新年あけましておめでとうございます。

本年の元旦は厚い雲の合間から差し込む朝日がたいへん美しくわたしたちを照らしてくれました。
静かな力強さを感じる新年の始まりとなりました。
昨年に引き続き、新年も多くの方にご参拝いただき心より御礼申し上げます。
また日頃より八幡奈多宮の魅力を変わらず発信してくださっている皆さまに深く感謝いたします。
皆さまにとって、本年が実り多く、心豊かな一年となりますように。
そして八幡奈多宮御鎮座1300年祭まで、いよいよあと3年。
これからの歩みも皆さまと共に大切に重ねてまいります。

Happy New Year.

On the morning of New Year’s Day, although the sky was filled with thick clouds, the rising sun shining through the breaks in the clouds was truly beautiful and gently illuminated us all.
It became a quiet yet powerful beginning to the year.
Following last year, we were once again blessed to welcome a great many worshippers at the start of the new year,
and we would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to everyone who visited.
We also extend our deep thanks to all those who continue to share the charm of Hachiman Nadagu Shrine through their posts and images.
May this year be one of abundance and richness of heart for each and every one of you.
With only three years remaining until the 1300th Anniversary of the enshrinement of Hachiman Nadagu Shrine,
we will continue to cherish each step of our journey together with you.

現在、八幡奈多宮に伝わる三神像が
大分県立美術館 OPAM にて展示中です。

本来、神は姿を現さない存在。

それにもかかわらず、神が「かたち」を持つこと自体が
日本の信仰史の中でも極めて特異なことです。

八幡神（応神天皇）•比売大神•神功皇后の三柱は、
神仏習合の時代背景のもと仏像彫刻の技法によって造られました。
カヤ材の一木造り、彩色を施したその姿は、神と仏の境界がまだ曖昧だった時代の空気を今に伝えています。

とくに僧形八幡神像は、「見えないはずの神が、仏の姿を借りて現れた」日本における初期神像彫刻の傑作。

約1300年の時を越えて守り伝えられてきた
国指定重要文化財「三神像」。
ぜひ会場でその存在と向き合ってみてください。

Currently on view at
Oita Prefectural Art Museum (OPAM)
are the Three Sacred Deity Statues handed down at Hachiman Nada Shrine.

Traditionally,gods are not meant to take visible form.
For this very reason, the act of giving shape to a deity is an exceptionally rare phenomenon in the history of Japanese belief.

The three figures—
Hachiman (Emperor Ōjin), Hime-no-Kami, and Empress Jingū—
were created during the period of Shinbutsu-shūgō, when Shinto and Buddhism were deeply intertwined, using techniques derived from Buddhist sculpture.

Carved from a single block of kaya wood and richly polychromed,these statues embody a time when the boundary between god and Buddha was still fluid and undefined.

In particular, the monk-shaped image of Hachiman stands as a masterpiece of early Japanese deity sculpture—
a moment when an unseen god appeared, borrowing the form of a Buddha.

Designated as Important Cultural Properties of Japan,the Three Deity Statues have been preserved for nearly 1,300 years.
