日曜日、のぼりを出しました。羊蹄山が白樺の向こうに顔を見せて、池は静かに光を映しています。

デッキ、開いています。コーヒーと、木陰の席と、よければ午後まるごと。

トモミがカウンターにいます。ドーナツ、CINADO、羊蹄クランチ、ケーキも並んでいます。お持ち帰りでも、池のそばでゆっくりでも。

Carrot Cake, always popular here at Layer. The best in the region? That’s for you to decide.

Moist, packed with fresh Hokkaido carrots and walnuts, spiced with cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, and a touch of clove, and topped with icing made from Hokkaido cream cheese.

A weekend regular, Friday through Sunday.

Cakes rising since before sunrise, sliced and waiting. Donuts still warm from the fryer. The pond is holding its quiet a little longer, rain’s expected though.

Take the deck with a cold brew coffee while the light holds, or come in for something sweet to take back home and enjoy with a book once the rain arrives.

Open today, 10am–4pm.

夜明け前から仕込んだケーキ、カットして静かに出番を待っています。ドーナツは揚げたての温かさ。池はまだ穏やかですが、午後には雨の予報です。
光があるうちはデッキで、雨が来たら店内で甘いものと一冊の本を。

A few days in Hakodate last week. Cherry blossom season always draws people outside in a way that’s hard to explain. Strangers slow down, dogs sit still for photos, kids run toward nothing in particular.

We came back full of ideas.
