Quando, circa 8 anni fa, ho iniziato questa avventura chiamata “lo scoiattolo” non ero da sola. Ora lo sono e per questo motivo – tra gli altri – ho deciso di mettere un punto a questa storia.
Ho investito tanta energia in questo forno e non è sempre stato facile ma posso dire che, col senno di poi, tutto è tornato indietro. Ho conosciuto migliaia di persone e ognuna di essa mi ha arricchita da un punto di vista culturale e sarà proprio questo che mi mancherà più di tutto. Mi mancherà aprire la porta ed aspettare la prima persona la mattina, mi mancherà vedere persone sedute a fare colazione davanti a un bretzel e un cappuccino, mi mancherà l’idea di aver dato a qualcuno qualcosa di speciale ma soprattutto mi mancheranno le storie delle persone che hanno mantenuto in vita questo forno.
Non voglio farla tanto lunga ma è qua che voglio arrivare: se c’è un messaggio che vorrei lasciare è quello di credere nei propri sogni e inseguirli con tenacia ma sopratutto vorrei che ognuno inizi a fare del pane proprio a casa in modo tale che Lo scoiattolo continui a vivere nelle vite delle persone. Questo mi renderebbe piena di gioia.

A FAUSTO, ai miei figli e a tutte le persone che hanno mangiato il mio pane in questi anni e a quelle che mi hanno sostenuta e creduto in me.
Eight years ago, when I began this adventure called “Lo Scoiattolo”, I wasn’t alone. Now I am, and for this reason – among others – I have decided to bring this story to an end.
I invested a great deal of energy in this bakery and it hasn’t always been easy, but I can assure you that, in hindsight, it has been well worth it for all of the good things that have come back to me. I came to know thousands of people and each one has enriched me culturally, and it will in fact be this that I will miss the most. I’ll miss opening the door in the morning and waiting for the first person to arrive, I’ll miss seeing people at my table enjoying breakfast with a bretzel or a cappuccino, I’ll miss the idea to have given something special to another person, but most of all I’ll miss the stories of all the people who have come here and which have kept this bakery alive.
I don’t want to take more of your time, but this is where I’m headed: if there’s a message that I’d like to leave it’s to believe in your dreams and follow them tenaciously. But most of all I would like for everyone to begin making their own bread at home so that Lo Scoiattolo will continue to live through you. This would fill me with great joy.

Als vor ungefähr 8 Jahren das Abenteuer namens "Lo Scoiattolo" begann, war ich nicht allein. Jetzt bin ich es und mitunter aus diesem Grund habe ich beschlossen, dieser Geschichte nun ein Ende zu setzen.
Ich habe viel Energie und Liebe in diesen Ofen gesteckt. Es war nicht immer einfach, doch im Nachhinein kann ich sagen, dass ich all das auch wieder zurückbekommen habe. Ich habe Tausende von Menschen kennengelernt, jeder von ihnen hat mich bereichert - genau das werde ich am meisten vermissen. Ich werde es vermissen, morgens die Tür zu öffnen und auf die erste Person zu warten, ich werde es vermissen, Leute vor einer Brezel und einem Cappuccino zum Frühstück sitzen zu sehen, ich werde die Idee vermissen, jemandem etwas Besonderes geschenkt zu haben, aber vor allem werde ich die Geschichten der Leute vermissen, die diesen Ofen am Leben gehalten haben.
Ich möchte es nicht besonders lang machen, aber das ist mir wichtig zu sagen: Wenn es eine Botschaft gibt, die ich hinterlassen möchte, dann ist es die, an Träume zu glauben und sie mit Beharrlichkeit zu verfolgen. Vor allem würde ich mir wünschen, dass die Menschen anfangen Brot zu backen, damit “lo scoiattolo” in ihnen weiterlebt. Das würde mein Herz mit Freude erfüllen.
