Stop cutting off the top of your cake just to get a flat layer!

If your cakes always come out with a dome in the centre, try using a cake strip around your cake pan before baking.

Here’s why it works👇🏻

A soaked cake strip helps slow down how quickly the edges of the cake heat up, allowing the sides and centre to bake more evenly. This can help reduce excessive doming and give you a flatter, more even cake layer.

✨ Soak the cake strip in cold water
✨ Wrap it securely around your cake pan
✨ Bake as usual
✨ Enjoy a more even cake with less trimming!

Less trimming = more cake to enjoy.

📌 Save this baking hack for your next cake and send it to a baker who is still cutting half the dome off their cakes!

Stop waiting for that toothpick to come out completely clean! 👀🎂

A few moist crumbs on the toothpick usually mean your cake is ready to come out.
The cake continues to cook from the residual heat even after you take it out of the oven.
Wait too long, and you could end up with a dry, crumbly cake instead of a soft, moist one. 🤎

Save this tip for your next bake! ✨

Your cake can be dense, flat or sunken because of ONE simple thing: butter temperature. 🧈🎂

“Room temperature butter” doesn’t mean soft, melting butter sitting on a warm kitchen counter. It should be cool to the touch and soft enough to leave a clean dent when pressed.

Here’s what happens 👇

Too cold:
Hard butter doesn’t cream properly with sugar → less air gets incorporated → dense, heavy cake.

Just right:
Soft but still firm → butter and sugar cream properly → better air incorporation → lighter, fluffier crumb. ✨

Too soft:
If your finger sinks straight through and the butter looks greasy or shiny, it’s too warm → it struggles to hold air → flat, oily or sunken results.

💡 Baker’s rule: Aim for butter around 19–21°C when using the creaming method. In a warm kitchen, don’t leave it out for hours—cut it into small cubes and let it soften gradually.

Save this before your next cake bake! 📌
Because sometimes, the difference between a fluffy cake and a dense one is simply butter at the right temperature. 🤍

Ever wondered why your cake gets dark edges, an over-browned bottom, or uneven baking even when you follow the recipe perfectly?

Your baking tray could be the reason. 👀

A black or dark baking tray absorbs more heat, which can make the edges and bottom brown faster. An aluminium baking tray reflects more heat, helping promote more even baking and controlled browning.

Try switching from a dark tray to an aluminium tray and compare your results.
Sometimes, the problem isn’t your recipe. It’s your bakeware. 🍰

📌 SAVE this baking tip for your next cake and send it to someone who always gets dark cake edges!

After more than 10 years of baking, these are some of the lessons that have made the biggest difference in my baking journey. 👇🏻

1. Check your ingredients before you start.
Make sure you have everything you need before you begin. It sounds simple, but it can save you from unnecessary stress, last-minute substitutions, and baking disasters.

2. Get an oven thermometer. 🌡️
Every oven is different, and the temperature you set isn’t always the actual temperature inside your oven. If you want consistent baking results, an oven thermometer is a small investment that can make a BIG difference.

3. Stop relying on cup measurements. ⚖️
Want more consistent cakes? Start weighing your ingredients. Baking is all about precision, and weighing your ingredients gives you much more reliable results.

4. Good-quality ingredients matter. 💫
You can have a great recipe and perfect technique, but the quality of your ingredients still affects the final product. Better ingredients can make a noticeable difference in flavour, texture, and overall quality.

5. Recipe + technique = the real secret.
A good recipe alone won’t save poor technique, and perfect technique can’t fix a bad recipe. You need both to consistently create a great product.

After years of baking, I’ve learned that small changes in your process can make a huge difference in your results. 🤎
