We bakers get queries in abundance for cupcakes and cakes . It was a regular post about 200 cupcakes which i responded to , little did i know that i will be having an experience of my life meeting kids , who rarely get two square meals leave alone goodies like cupcakes .
It is an initiative taken up by , started by a baker in Bangalore , where bakers get together and bake whole wheat goodies for underprivileged kids .
I got 50 whole wheat chocolate muffins to bake. The best part was , it was for Asharay foundation , a organisation working for the underprivileged kids , an ex colleague of mine from BPL heads the pune operations for Asahray . A double whammy as i got to meet Bharti , after years along with super enthusiastic kids .
The enthusiastic kids were happy to munch on the muffins , some saved a bit of it for siblings back home ( wish i could bake more for the siblings too ) . All the kids were super energetic , chirpy and full of laughter and happiness . A thing to learn from these tiny tots to be cheerful even in the most harsh conditions .
Me and my daughter chatted up with the kids for sometime . She was really moved by the thought that things we take so granted mean the world to some kids . She has promised me not to be careless about her pencils , erasers and scales henceforth , something i keep collecting them from every corner of the house . My son couldn't accompany us , but was teary eyed when i mentioned about the plight of these kids to him .
All in all , i came back with a sense of pride for doing a tiny bit for these kids . I have promised to keep my assosiation with Asharay foundation in the future .
Earned some good karma !!
