How it all began? Growing up in a household full of artists, I was always fascinated by handmade things and artisanal crafts. It takes a lot of focus and skill to make something from scratch. It is the passion for the craft that drives you to create something with love every time. My life journey began at Institute Villa Pierrefeu in Glion Switzerland. It's there I experienced the joy of freshly b
aked madeleines. I went on to specialise as a patisserie at London Le Cordon Bleu. This is where I began to bake in earnest. I realized I am happiest in the kitchen, covered in flour, surrounded by pots and pans :) This is where I learnt to be creative with new ingredients. Baking became both my passion and obsession. To further hone my skills I went to Savour School of chocolate & Patisserie in Melbourne Australia to specialize in patisserie. And soon I felt the need to share my culinary experiences with the world and that is how Baked By Ratna Saluja was born. My philosophy: “Pull up a chair. Take a taste. Come join us. Life is so endlessly delicious.”
I founded Baked by Ratna Saluja around the notion of desserts as an experience. A love for decadent desserts and my desire to make people smile are the two things that inspired me to start this modern patisserie. Of course, flavor is the most important component, but spending a little extra time creating a visually dazzling dessert is also equally important for me :) Most of my desserts have various layers and textures. In one bite you can enjoy the myriad sensations. I love experimenting with flavors like matcha, passion fruit, mango, and lime. But my most favorite dessert is this smooth, sophisticated, textured, mildly sweet, slightly bitter, a bit spicy chocolate pate gateaux. Baked by Ratna Saluja
