BSE in BSE!!
How cool is it that our cake of the iconic BSEIndia building should be featured inside the very building it was modeled on! Here seen in the hallowed Rotunda trading ring, with a backdrop of the auspicious “Opening Bell” gong.
With just 36 hrs to execute, we spend the first 4 looking at 100s of pictures, increasingly horrified at not finding perfect public images of a full frontal or 360* perspective, combining entry levels, the soaring tower and the unique Rotunda. Possibly because BSEIndia‘s is 29 floors high, and located in the congested heart of Mumbai’s financial district. So getting that perspective was impossible. (But there is hope now. Because there are drone cameras now :-) ) And no one seems to have attempted this in a cake earlier, because we didn't find any cake pictures either.
Having no choice but to do it ourselves, 10 hours are spent integrating perspectives from multiple images, making drawings and mock-ups, calculating angles and proportions, weight and balance, colours and effects. Followed by 20 odd-hours of non-stop baking. As always, we sweated the small stuff; it's important for us to get it right.
Also hugely chuffed at probably being the first in the world to make a documented model of BSEIndia‘s !
Chocolate and Hazelnuts, layered with Salted Caramel filling. 6kg. Are we happy with a fully edible model of the Bombay Stock Exchange Tower? Yes. Could we have done better, given more time? Definitely!
