It’s been six years since Better Call Shireen came into being. It was July 2020, my plans of going to pastry school had been thwarted due to the pandemic and the Canadian government, I’d had a surgery a couple months ago and had been recuperating while reading and cooking and baking. One fine day while binge watching Better Call Saul inspiration hit, Canva helped with the logo and I posted the first menu this very day, six years ago.
This is the first time I’m posting about this very dear anniversary. What’s been stopping me from doing so over the last five years, you ask? Well, to be brutally honest I have been a little embarrassed. I felt like I didn’t have enough followers, enough orders, enough posts, enough reels, enough clout. I felt lesser. 7th July became a day I spent mulling over my hedonistic, questionable life choices (but hey, I had fun making most of said choices) instead of a day I should have spent celebrating and patting myself on the back.
So why now? Why this year?
Perhaps it’s the wisdom and confidence one gains with age, perhaps I’m just feeling good about myself today, perhaps I thought this would make for a good post or perhaps it’s the love that you guys have showered upon me.
