Being a Hotel Mgnt Professional, I had the desire to create a niche for myself in the Food Industry. Since I have always been fond of chocolates. When offered a choice I always chose chocolates above other desserts. Choices like Amul, Nestle and Cadburys were available in the market but Cadburys has been the eternal choice and bench mark for all chocolate lovers as well for me. After eating import
ed chocolates my taste buds always craved for the melt in the mouth taste left by them. From the past few years, I have always been working with chocolates in many forms making cakes, mousse, stuffed croissants, but making chocolates was a forgotten skill which was reminded to me all of a sudden . While undergoing Training as a part of my Hotel Management Course, little did I know that the skill of making chocolates which I acquired at that time would become a profession for me. Last summer (In the summer of 2014, I wanted to learn up a new Hobby), when I came across an advertisement in the newspaper about ‘Chocolate Making Class’, I suddenly remembered about my training days. The department where they made chocolates was lower in temperature than the other areas & was nicknamed as “ Silver Jail ” by the Trainees. It used to be so cold in there that the chef & the trainees working on the chocolates would be strolling out of the department every 30 mins . Later that evening, when I mentioned about my Chocolate Making skills my Husband, Chetan could not believe that chocolates could be handmade. He had only known about them being produced by big brands in factories. When I mentioned about it to our relatives & friends they had the similar perception about chocolates only being mass produced in factories.
2014 June & July before the college reopened I decided to use the free time in a constructive way. Initially I made chocolates only for personal consumption. The first time I made chocolates was for a neighbours daughter’s Birthday party. Having tasted them once at our place she insisted that I make it as return gifts for her. I was more than happy to oblige. It was after that Chetan & a few close friends insisted that I should let others also benefit from my skills. They say “Practice makes a person perfect”, I started practicing my forgotten skills. Initially I did end up with not so great results, but being a fighter that I am made sure that I achieved my goal of making Professional Gourmet Chocolates. The Food Trial Process, saw chetan and me gorge on chocolates. After many many trials, permutations & combinations, we were able to come up with Exotic Flavours in Chocolates. Regular chocolates can be purchased from a store but it is the flavour & combination of the fillings which makes FBC chocolates different from others.
