Christmas fruit cake bake off 2022 by Kitchen Kemistry

Presenting my Christmas fruit cake for 2022.
I have been following Cheryl from Kitchen Kemistry for years now. Always loved her detailed posts which were not just recipes but in-depth sharing of the finer nuances of baking.
Being a part of her Christmas Bake off was such an amazing experience. Yes, I did struggle to meet the deadlines, read and absorb all the information, and juggle my full time bank job and baking orders. What a roller coaster month it has been, trying to stay out of the eliminations!!!! But totally worth it. I had to unlearn alot of my own baking practices of 30 years and embrace new ones patiently taught by Cheryl. Looking forward to Christmas day to savour this gorgeous slice of cake.....full of dry fruits and booze!!! Thank you Cheryl for your patience, magnanimity and dedication to hand hold 250 odd bakers through the entire process while meeting your own MBA deadlines! It was no mean feat!!!!
P.S: Recipe will not be shared. Thanks for understanding ❤️

When you are on a rare 12 days off from work, it's time to try out new recipes.
This is a 12 yolk pound cake!! Before you start rolling your eyes at the levels of cholesterol, let me tell you it has no butter or oil! So I guess that's ok.
It's soft, spongy, not too sweet and delicious with a steaming cup of rose tea.
Thank you Paula for an amazing recipe to use up all those left over yolks.

The only new year resolution I made this year was to follow a recipe to the letter.... At least the first time. And I broke that resolution on the 1st of Jan itself!!!!
Candied orange peel. Had a bitterish tinge. So I gave it another try today and followed the recipe to the T...and it's divine!!! Look at that vibrant colour!!!

My experiments with sourdough baking. This time I soaked wheat and nachni grains overnight, ground it to a paste in the mixie and added starter, salt and just enough maida to make a dough. Very happy with the flavour and crumb of this bread. Atleast I'm sure about the nutritive value of this bread!
