The market for pre-owned heavy commercial vehicles operates through local networks a

nd mouth to mouth channels. As a result there is extremely low discoverability for buyers and sellers. Furthermore, the supply is fragmented and localized for instance a buyer in Sonipat cannot connect to a seller in New Delhi and vice versa. This leads to high turnaround times for buying and selling vehicles when need arises. Our survey indicates turnaround times ranging from 30 - 45 days currently. This market is plagued with slow traditional modes of transaction. In this model, there’s alarmingly low financial transparency in the market and less influential players suffer as a consequence. The market is fraught with fraud and that is a major problem for buyers and sellers alike. Solution
An online marketplace for heavy commercial vehicles stands to address the aforementioned problems in the following ways:
Increased discoverability of vehicles being listed on the platform. Defragmentation of supply and demand by enabling vehicle hubs to interconnect. Reducing turnaround times for transactions by upto 50 - 80%. Increased market transparency of vehicle valuations. Automatic fraud prevention measures baked into the platform by cross verifying listings against open government datasets of registered vehicles. Verification of selling vehicle owner details, paperwork and vehicle quality.

Baatein aur Beer

We hosted our first Thursday event during the concluding week of June. The atmosphere was eclectic and thick with love — love for HornOK and free booze.

It could have been that many of us were flying high as we neared our launch. It could have been that we were excited for the first impromptu event, one that would go on to be a ritual. Or perhaps, it was our anticipation for the gifted speakers who had volunteered to participate. Whatever the reason, it’d be safe to say that we were all on cloud nine.

With our bellies full of hot Indian snacks and a couple of beers, we kicked off the fiesta with an introduction by Vaibhaw Kumar, our intern at HornOK. Diwank Singh Tomer, the CTO, anchored the meetup with a small informal talk revolving around philosophy, and movies which bore their fair share of philosophy in their visual portrayal.Our guest speaker KC Sachin, a student of Political Science at Ashoka University then took on the stage to recite some verses of Urdu poetry, popularly known as ‘Shayari’.

Following the event was a buffet of deliciously cooked Indian food, which was devoured by all the attendees. The event was well attended and we look forward to organise an Open Mic this Thursday at our headquarters. We warmly welcome your participation as we look forward to a warm gathering of like minded people. Cheerio!
