Well - 70 percent of the cakes that leave my studio get captured on the weighing scale (The others are usually customers repeating flavours and kilos and know what to expect) i have had a couple of instances where the client has doubted the final weight. And after consumption, it just parks us on the crossroads where it is my word vs. theirs. And that is an uncomfortable spot.
So an image or video of the weight just helps clear the air.
I also don't blame customers doubting the weight - imagine someone usually consuming a Fluffy commercial baker Sponge cake with a whipped cream filling and frosting. The volume of the cake will be higher. Because the 'Cake' itself is airy and so is the whipped cream. Now pitch that perception of volume against a Butter based cake - which is definitely heavier and add a filling and Frosting of Chocolate Ganache. The volume will probably be just 60 percent, while it may weigh the same !
If you are a Baker, have you faced a similar situation? Do share with me.
