A fruitcake with a difference... a single-malt, if you will.😀
No blend of traditional Christmas fruits here, nor spices, liquors, flavourings or nuts. Just some fresh, juicy oranges, blended skin, pulp, pith and all and added to a simple buttercake batter. The result is a complex but addictive cake, with the faint bittersweetness of marmalade and the perky freshness of a juicy orange. Glazed lightly for the perfect mouthful.

Turkish Ramazan pidesi and Zahterli pide/pidesi. Pide are leavened, pizza like flatbreads which can be baked plain to eat with butter, cheese and jam for breakfast, or filled with any number of fillings for a heartier snack.
The Ramazan pide is traditionally topped with a mix of sesame and Nigella seeds and the Zahterli Pide is topped with fragrant za'atar. I also added some barberries bought from the beautiful Doha Souk for some added flavour. A perfect addition to a Mezze platter with various dips.

Hey everyone! Hope you all are safe and healthy. Been missing work and you all for a while now, and hope this situation resolves very soon. I'm keeping my family's and my immunity up by having a morning drink made by boiling : Pounded ginger, raw turmeric, mint leaves and cinnamon powder for some time and then straining and adding the juice of half to one lime and a spoon of honey. Also adding some pepper powder to aid the absorption of turmeric in the body. Try it out. Its good for EVERYTHING.
If you cant miss your tea, add some grated ginger and raw turmeric to it with a pinch of pepper powder. So good, in every way!
