I started baking at home as a mother looking for healthy bakes for my daughter & family when I realized that even premium baked products available today may contain unsafe ingredients. After a few years of practice and experimentation on my family and friends, I started Wunder Bakes to offer the same wholesome taste, freshness, quality, safety, trust & value for money that I was looking for, to anyone who wishes for it!

I started panicking when my last bottle of pure vanilla extract was almost over. After a few minutes of googling, realised that one can make excellent vanilla extract right at home.
So got myself around 5-6 vanilla pods, an "addha" of an inexpensive brand of vodka (because the alcohol anyways evaporates during baking/cooking) and my almost empty bottle of vanilla extract.
Scraped the seeds out of the vanilla pods and added the seeds and the pods to the vanilla bottle, poured the vodka over this and gave it a good shake. This would be ready to use in about 6-8 weeks and keeps indefinitely!

It was rather satisfying baking this Black Forest Cake with an elaborate, Julia Usher inspired chocolate collar. Though it was rather time consuming, making it was thoroughly challenging and fun. Cake looks rather enchanting with it, eh?! Happy birthday girl, happy me! ;-)
