Dream Realm ✨

This piece took me far outside my usual comfort zone.

I’m naturally drawn to softer palettes, cleaner compositions and more controlled floral arrangements — so creating something this layered, textured and chaotic felt both exciting and unfamiliar at the same time.

For the Parallel Worlds collaboration by The Sugarcrafters Squad, I wanted this cake to feel like stepping into another realm… a little wild, slightly imperfect, dreamlike and overflowing with detail.

The unusual colour combinations, painterly textures and untamed florals were all part of that exploration.

Not every creation has to feel safe to be meaningful.

Sometimes trying something different teaches you more than recreating what already feels comfortable.

Every flower, textures and details were piped by hand in buttercream ✨

Sharing a few things cake decorating has taught me over the years ✨

1) You don’t have to learn every cake decorating technique out there. It’s okay to have a niche and specialise in what you truly enjoy. But don’t stop yourself from exploring select new techniques — you’ll never know what you genuinely love unless you try.
2) Even if you choose a niche, constant practice and skill-building are essential. The more you refine your craft, the more confident and consistent your work becomes.
3) You don’t need every piping tip, mould, or tool to start. Master a few tools first, experiment with variations, and learn to innovate with what you already have. Invest in better tools gradually as your skills grow.
4) Set aside time regularly to explore your creativity. Experiment, play, and try ideas that may or may not work. Some of your best ideas come when you create without pressure.
5) Don’t be afraid to say no to designs that don’t align with your style. But also don’t be afraid to say yes to designs that challenge you in the right way. Both boundaries and challenges shape you as a cake artist ✨

Throwback to the time I turned cake into a flower vase… one of those creations where I stepped out of my comfort zone and just played with the idea.

A vase, but edible.
Flowers, but piped in buttercream.

Looking back, this piece still feels so special- because it reminds me how trying something new can turn into something unexpectedly beautiful 🤍

Piped with one of the most unpredictable mediums I’ve worked with, these flowers aren’t as simple as they look.

Too soft → it melts
Too firm → it cracks
Perfect consistency? A very small window.

Every petal here had to be timed, shaped, and adjusted constantly.

And yet… get it right, and it gives this almost real, velvety finish—one that even holds up in warm weather 🤍

Not the easiest medium—but definitely one of the most rewarding.
