Just like many of you my passions include sports like taekwondo and football, painting and most importantly women’s right and baking! I have been privy to the mistreatment, however subtle, faced by women in all ages. However, this mistreatment is exacerbated based on a woman, young woman or girls status in society. I have also witnessed this mistreatment and denial of rights first hand- personall
y as well as with girls less privileged than me.This mistreatment is especially terrible for young girls living below or close to the poverty line. The rights they are denied are essential human rights, most relevantly the right to an education. In such families, because of their lack of knowledge, parents have their daughter(s) married at an extremely tender age. This is usually done in an attempt to reduce the burden on their family. I want to help these young girls gain access to their right to an education while also educating the parents and the community about the principle of gender equality and the inherent right to an education. Thus, I have combined my passion for these issues with my passion for baking to form a foundation, Wings On Cupcakes. Whose aim is to empower young underprivileged girls with education. We have a simple model with no bureaucracy. We often have bake sales at jewelry and clothing exhibitions and sporting events. The profits from these sales go directly to their education.
