Turbinado sugar is derived from sugar cane, but contains some molasses

As Turbinado sugar is less processed therefore it contains natural molasses and nutrients. Consequently, it is healthier than table sugar

The term turbinado comes from the technique used in the making of this sugar. The sugar is spun in a cylinder or turbine.

Turbinado sugar doesn't melt smoothly into other ingredients and retains its crunch, you shouldn't use it as a substitute for brown sugar in baking or other recipes unless you want a more crumbly or drier result.
