The Blaa is a white yeast bread roll unique to Waterford city and introduced by the Huguenots back in the early 17th century. The Blaa is enjoyed as a morning snack or a lunch time filler. Steeped in history, the Blaa has been traced back to the time of the Huguenots who introduced the Blaa back in the 17th century.Today, the Blaa is produced in Waterford city by Walsh's Bakehouse (formerly known

as M & D Bakery) who have been producing the much loved Blaa for over 30 years. The Walsh family have been baking in Waterford since 1921 with Michael and Dermot Walsh who are third generation bakers establishing Walsh’s Bakehouse in 1985. It remains a family run business to this day. The company is located in the heart of Waterford city servicing customers all over Ireland. A range of bread products are supplied to retail and foodservice customers.
