Hats off to Pamela Curtin who visited our shed recently to show off some of her fantastic creations. We are lucky to have such a talented milliner right on our doorstep. Pamela can put the finishing touches to any outfit with one of her own hand made head pieces . We enjoyed trying on the hats and fascinators and Pamela was very generous with her time answering questions and giving advice.

Thank you to Portlaoise Library for having our members in such a beautiful building.

This week we had Angela from “Just For You “ & Carol from “Iona Essence”who creates her own beautiful Irish essential oils. Check them out if you haven’t been!

It was such an enjoyable and relaxing morning, we all had a treat of a massage and we really appreciated you both sharing & giving your time with us. Also our group participated in the walk for Domestic Abuse, & Sheila gifted beautiful crochet purple roses to us this morning thank you!

Portlaoise Women’s Shed welcomed Travis from Hearmed Acoustic Healthcare, a local audiology practice based in Portlaoise .

Travis gave a presentation on hearing health—how it impacts daily life, and why taking care of our hearing is so important.

What an informative presentation filled with energy & much laughter also for our group. If you haven’t visited “Hearmed” located on the edge of Bridge Street, do pop in as Travis is welcoming & very supportive to all things hearing.

What a lovely morning we enjoyed on Friday at our Portlaoise Women’s Shed Quiz ☀️🧠

Great company, plenty of laughs, and a few tricky questions to keep us all on our toes! It’s mornings like these that remind us how important it is to come together, connect, and enjoy each other’s company.

Thanks to everyone who joined us—great crack!

We are just back from our Easter Break which we all enjoyed. There was plenty of time to catch up at our weekly Friday morning session in the library with chat, craic, crafts and coffee and lots of cups if tea.
On our last session before we closed we had Caroline from Portlaoise Nutrition
who gave her invaluable insights into healthy eating habits.
In addition to her expert advice, Caroline generously offered a free one-to-one consultation for members of the PWS community. This was very much appreciated by all. Thank you very much Caroline.

Great morning at our meet-up today with chats, laughter, cards and plenty of stitching.
While some of us were relaxing in the library, a number of the ladies headed off to the dance class in the parish centre. Looks like they all had great fun dancing to the 80s music and getting their steps in — 5,000 steps, dance queens, well done!
Marian has very kindly offered a discount to Portlaoise Women’s Shed members for her six-week class starting on Tuesday, 24th March. If anyone is interested, please contact Marian to book your place

A busy and productive morning at the Portlaoise Women’s Shed today.
In the library our group met *Kate from the Cuisle Centre* Portlaoise, who gave an informative talk on BreastCheck, reminding us of the importance of being aware of our bodies, staying active, and maintaining a healthy diet.
We were delighted to present blankets made by our members, along with money collected from our door contributions, and we are very grateful for the additional private donations to *Cuisle Centre*
At the same time, some of our members attended a workshop in Abbeyleix Library with *Laois Domestic Abuse Services *and artist *Maeve Collins* creating textiles that will be donated to the service. Thank you for allowing us to be part of such a wonderful and connecting morning.
A big thank you to *Kelly Lou Cakes* for the lovely treats and to *Rash Beauty, Portlaoise* for the beautiful gift set donated in celebration of *International Women’s Day*
Today was all about celebrating women and reminding us to look after ourselves and each other. Thank you to everyone who contributed.
We wish to thank the following;

What a truly fantastic day we had at Portlaoise Women’s Shed this week!

We were delighted to welcome Pamela Sage, founder of TheYurt, who facilitated a beautiful session of sound bathing, gentle meditation and mandala-making. It was peaceful, creative, grounding — and full of laughter too!

There’s something very special about taking time to slow down, tap into our creativity, and simply be ogether. The feedback from the ladies was phenomenal — calm minds, happy hearts and lots of smiles all around.

A huge thank you to Pamela for holding such a warm and nurturing space for us. We would absolutely love to welcome you back again — and we’re also very much looking forward to visiting ourselves soon!

We had a lovely Friday morning at Portlaoise Women’s Shed, welcoming , Image Consultant with House of Colour, who travelled from County Monaghan to join us.

Maria gave a really informative session built around her message “Take your space,” sharing practical advice on colour, style, body shape and how refreshing our image can boost confidence — a perfect conversation as we move into spring and Valentine’s weekend.

We also enjoyed some lovely food, celebrated the birthday of one very special member, and had a great turnout with a warm, friendly atmosphere throughout.

A big thank you to Maria for spending the morning with us — we look forward to inviting you back again.
