This is definitely my last Communion cake of the 2026 season. Made for David who had a very good idea of what he wanted - a boy in his Communion suit, a chalice, a cross and some circles with crosses to resemble Communion wafers. All on top of a 2 tier cake - an 8" chocolate biscuit cake and a 4 layer 6" vanilla sponge with jam and buttercream filling. Congratulations, David. I hope you had a wonderful celebration.

I haven't done a unicorn and rainbow cake for a while so it was lovely to make this cake for Lily who turned five last week. The cake inside is a 4 layer 8" vanilla sponge with vanilla buttercream filling. The sleepy unicorn sits in front of a curly rainbow and is surrounded by delicate flowers. And, of course, the obligatory sprinkles of glitter! Happy birthday, Lily!

This is a version of one of my own designs from last year. It's an 8", 4 layer vanilla sponge with jam and buttercream filling. The decorations are what I term as rosette roses - they are handmade but I use a special cutter to speed up the process. The recipient loves the colour purple which works particularly well with a white base. The silver 70 sets off the cake beautifully. Of course, there's a bit of silver glitter too, for a bit of sparkle!!!

K-pop is not something I know much about, apart from its great popularity so it was a good opportunity to find out about...

K-pop is not something I know much about, apart from its great popularity so it was a good opportunity to find out about the band BTS, who feature on this cake for Soph. The two tone ombre effect buttercream is set off by the white chocolate drip and ombre swirls. Happy birthday, Soph!

I have to admit that this is one of my favourite cakes to date. I love the eclectic models - the beloved dog, Charlie, the scooter, the travel elements and the painting supplies, sitting on an 8" vanilla sponge with vanilla buttercream filling. All these things represent the recipient, Dec, as he celebrated his 40th birthday. Congratulations, Dec, and a very happy birthday!

Science is a fascinating subject and so it was fascinating to learn a bit more and produce this cake for Daniel who turned 7 recently. His particular interests are the DNA double helix and the periodic table for which my edible printer came in very handy! He's also big into bright colours so inside there was a rainbow sponge - a layer for each colour of the 🌈. Happy birthday, Dan!

I just love a cake where I can let my imagination out and this cake certainly fits the bill! The cake was for Paddy who is a Maths teacher and part-time farmer and his mum, Breda, wanted that to be included in the design. So, the scene features Paddy trying to teach one of his cows and sheep a bit of arithmetic. The sheep is using an abacus while the cheeky cow has been messing around with a calculator. Paddy's red tractor is travelling around the cake pulling a trailer of sheep. If you look at the sum on the board you'll notice that the answer to the sum is 25 - Paddy's age. Happy birthday, Paddy!

This was my first ever Harry Potter cake and it was something I have wanted to do for such a long time so when Avril contacted me about making one for her son's communion, I jumped at the chance. Making the models was such fun but difficult to choose which to do - unfortunately I couldn't fit on everything ... so the Sorting Hat, the Golden Snitch, Harry's wand, glasses, scar and scarf all made it on to the 8" chocolate biscuit cake. Congratulations, Turlough, I hope you had a wonderful day!
