“What’s your favourite moment from our holiday in Sweden?” I asked the children this morning. They say it’s impossible to choose only one. And I agree, that would be impossible. But there is one moment that stands out and that is the afternoon spent in Lindesberg, the town where I spent my childhood years. We came for a very quick visit last year, when I left crying as I didn’t have time to process the changes made to some of my favourite places. So this time I wanted to spend at least a few hours in my hometown.
We walked along the lake, where I used to walk and cycle several times a week.
We passed the church where my dad worked and I sang in the children’s choir. Lots of lovely memories from this place.
We swam in the lake where I spent most of my waking hours in the summertime💙
We also had walked past the house we used to live in and my old primary school. Both buildings still look the same from the outside, but I know the interior is very different now, in fact the school is no longer a school. They are still just as beautiful as they’ve always been.
But the best thing about this afternoon was that we got to spend it with a dear friend of mine and her wonderful family. Two decades have passed since we last met, but it didn’t matter. For several hours we chatted, laughed, shared memories, got to know those who weren’t born when we last saw each other. An afternoon I hope I’ll never forget❤️
