One of the easiest recipe to begin a baking journey is the humble scone.

My family like the egg wash but you can add milk instead or leave it out. It's economical and would probably cost less than the scone premix sold in Supermarkets.

10 mins cooking time and 10 minutes preparation time.

Ingredients

350g self-raising flour, plus more for dusting
1 tsp baking powder
85g butter, cut into cubes
3 tbsp caster sugar
175ml milk
1 tsp vanilla extract
squeeze lemon juice ( lemon juice or Vinegar added to regular milk is the same as buttermilk)
