Theme: Jesus Christ, is the Lord of our life
Main text: Matthew 14: 22-33
The previous miracle of Jesus Christ feeding the 5,000 men with 5 loaves of bread and 2 fishes gave the disciples the assurance of Jesus providing for them abundantly in times of their need, so when Jesus told them to get into the boat and go back to the other side without him there was no hesitation.
Jesus isolated himself to pray. Beloved we sometimes need to isolate ourselves to have an intimacy with our Maker, the Lord Almighty.
Meanwhile, the boat was now far from land and Bible says "they were beaten by the waves and the wind was against them" ESV. This same Jesus when he saw the plight of the disciples went to them walking on the sea.
He's is the Omniscient God, he knows all our being, it wasn't the fault of the disciples to fall into such calamity. Sometimes destiny may seem that we have distance ourselves from the Lord, tho in sight it seems so but he has got his eyes set on us, he is always with us. As believers let us bare in mind that the waves may beat us, the wind will be against us. Brethren All hope is not lost. The One whom the storm and wind obeys will definitely walk on the sea of our problems, that same troubles that are giving us sleepless night, depression, causing fear and panic to the extent of committing su***de, Jesus said "take heart; it is I, Do not be afraid!" ESV
When the disciples heard his voice, the well know voice, the voice that brings hope to mankind tho the storms were not over but I believe nerves were calmed, to extent Peter also had to walk on the sea. The voice of Jesus gives command to situations, the voice strengthen us in times when think all is lost. Peter showed a sense of trust when he heard the voice.
This same Peter walking on the sea turned to watch the strong wind against him, looking at the magnitude of the wind once again became afraid but frantically called on the Lord of his life, "LORD, SAVE ME!"
The Lord took him by the hand, gently rebuked his little faith, and brought him to the boat.
The Bible says soon as Jesus went on board the wind ceased, brethren when we have an intimacy with the Lord, the winds in our lives automatically ceases, if we pray for years or read the entire Bible, without a good fellowship with our Lord Jesus Christ, the winds will still be against us.
I urge you to rekindle your love and faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, let him be the Lord of your Life please if you have not received him as your Lord and personal Savior too you can do so now.
