As you all know. Cupboard Love York had to cease trading back in 2020 and I’ve honestly felt like I’ve been in limbo ever since, I missed the creative flair so much!

This week however, I started a new role as Baker/Cake Maker with LS.Cakery within Baker Street Deli up at Clifton Moor. You’ll all be pleased to know that I have taken my most popular recipes across with me and they’re already being rolled out in the deli with some amazing feedback. Please support Lisha’s businesses (I’ve posted in the links) and please come in and say hi 👋.

Not only do we serve delicious sandwiches, panini’s and toasties but also homemade soup of the day, French pastries, cakes and Traybakes. We bake bread everyday as well as homemade sausage rolls, cheese straws and other savoury bakes. The menu is constantly changing and we’re bringing loads of exciting things to the table.

As well as all of that. Lisha is an incredible cake artist specialising in Wedding cakes (she’s built up quite the reputation in this field) but also other celebration cakes too.

This has just been added to my Vegan Range. It’s my Cherrylita! An almond shortbread flapjack hybrid filled with a layer of marzipan, morello cherry jam and topped with toasted flaked almonds and glacé cherries. This delicious fruity bake is full of flavour with just the right balance of sweetness. Something tells me this will be a new favourite! Preparing samples as I write this. Spent the morning finishing off piping some of my Viennese topped Mince Pies. These are now finished and baked ready for their collection/delivery.

I can officially hang up my apron for 10 days. Thank you to everyone who has supported my business this year (and always). Cupboard Love York wouldn’t be able to run without you. Technically I’ve got some Christmas biscuits to bake with my children (at their request) as well as constructing a gingerbread house so it’s more of a busmans holiday but I’ll take that. 😀

If anyone’s at a loose end I am going to be at Headlands Primary School Fayre in Haxby between 3.30-5pm selling Traybakes, Scones, Mince Pies, Tree Decorations and Reindeer Cones. Last Saturday I attended a days workshop at York Cocoa House to do a masterclass in Chocolate making from bean to bar as well as making truffles with white chocolate ganache and a soft salted caramel filling.

The course was run by the lovely Ashley, who was a real gem. So knowledgeable and he really drew us all in with his charm and expertise.

Such a lovely day and it was great to meet so many other people. Thoroughly recommend!

I’m hoping to expand on the skills I learnt for Cupboard Love York’s purposes so please watch this space for future creations.
