As a child I have fond memories of my mum always baking beautiful cakes for our birthdays. That job was inevitably passed down to me & I started baking for my children's birthdays and fell in love with cake decorating. Either a blessing or curse I have an overwhelming desire to make bigger and more in your face, beautiful cakes every time I bake. I have a complete love of wedding cakes.Theatrical, big, bold, eye catching & magically beautiful, everything I want to create. In Jan 2016 I decided to kick off my own wedding and event cake business. Cake Design by Holly Miller.

WELL, WHAT ON EARTH CAN WE SAY ANOUT THE CAKE?!!!!!!!

TAKING CLOSER LOOK…
at Siofra and Ripley’s architectural yet romantic and whimsical cake design today.

Textured neutral toned rectangular and square tiers, covered in , are softened by ornate Baroque detailing, luxurious touches of 24 carat gold leaf and whimsical fresh florals.

The girls were keen to have the foliage climbing naturally around the design and as real ivy isn’t suitable for dressing cakes, I suggested handcrafted sugar leaves to help create the look they had in mind.
A combo I feel works perfectly.

CLARIDGE’S

A bright, bold, modern beauty taking pride of place at for R & R’s big day.

An abundance of wafer and rice paper sails, all over floral texture created with ‘Grace’ embossing mat, and a whole lot of glam 24k edible gold leaf make this cake a true showstopper.

TWIA JUDGE

The Wedding Industry Awards judging process begins this week, and after my consecutive national wins in 2024 and 2025, I am extremely excited to be part of the panel again this year.

It is such an honour to look through the entries from so many talented cake designers and I’m thoroughly looking forward to seeing what this year brings.

SIOFRA AND RIPLEY…

Where do I start with this gorgeous couple?

I have been desperate to share these beautiful images with you all for a while now, alongside their ethereal and enchanting wedding cake. But before I knew it, I was in the depths of fully fledged wedding season and up to my elbows in cake mix.

Not only were these two such a joy to work with, but their wedding images are just a joy. So full of warmth, love and emotion.

And the amazing thing? The super talented person who captured them isn’t even a wedding photographer. When I asked the ladies who their photographer was, they casually replied,
“A very talented friend with a great eye.”

They weren’t wrong!

Working with Siofra and Ripley was such a pleasure. They had fallen in love with one of my previous creations and then put complete trust in me to take elements of that design and create something new, unique and completely them.

“You were the first vendor we found, and not only did the cake become a lynchpin for organising other details around the day, but our conversations meant so much.”

Thank you both! Your day was absolutely gorgeous!!

AFTER A GREAT DEAL OF THOUGHT

I have taken the decision to step down as a member of the judging panel for the UK Weddings & Honeymoon Awards.

Being a judge within an industry that I adore and am so invested in is such an honour. Judging businesses and the people behind them within this amazingly creative industry is a responsibility I take extremely seriously.

I personally know how much time, energy and nerve it takes not only to run your own business, but to put yourself out there and enter it into an awards event.

That is one of the many reasons I find judging such a pleasure. Being able to support, encourage and champion individuals who put their heart and soul into what they do is incredibly important to me.
Peer support and recognition are so valuable within our ever evolving industry.

I very much enjoyed looking through and judging some of the fantastic businesses that entered the awards last year.

However, I also believe that when you choose to invest your time and name into something, it has to feel right. And on this occasion, it no longer does.

For that reason, I have made the decision to step away.

I have no doubt the awards will continue to grow and I wish everyone involved, particularly the incredibly talented businesses entering, every success.
