I love being a baker for .initiative , and so proud to have now gifted 4 postal cupcake boxes.

Cake Initiative is a community of voluntary bakers that share a passion for helping financially struggling families by providing a birthday cake for their child free of charge. Times are financially tough for many families at the moment. Whatever the reason, we are here to help.

Our cakes are lovingly handmade and will be handed over in a public place, to ensure the safety of both parties. We have volunteers based across the UK.

🎄 Peppermint Park 🎄

these little elf friends were my entry for the decorated cupcake category at Cake International 2021 in Birmingham.

After 18 months of no face to face shows I had created a huge list of ideas for my entry, when I sat down to make them though nothing felt right.

A few tears later and a blast of inspiration from the fabulous during my eye lash appointment the day before driving to the show the magic started to happen!

The models took me 8 hours to make, plus a couple more for baking, buttercream and adding details to the board.
(the cupcakes & buttercream are flavoured with peppermint, so they smell like Peppermint Park too 🥰)

These are the end result, I was and am so so pleased with them.

Awarded a silver so totally amazing, really helpful feedback from the judges and seeing passers by smiling & talking about the little details of my work is just the best feeling.

If you’re thinking about entering a competition my advice is to do it! it’s hard work, it’s stressful, it causes tears BUT putting something down on that table feels so incredible it makes all the emotions worth it.
