🍎 A little date for your diary! 🍎
I’ll be at the Heritage Apples Exhibition at Lydiard Park for all 5 days,
The exhibition features the wonderful work of Billy Beaumont, with his paintings depicting all 25 varieties of Heritage Apples growing within Lydiard Park’s Walled Garden. There’ll also be Marilyn Trew’s new Lydiard Park maps, apple printing workshops and lots more.and obviously I couldn’t turn up to an apple event empty-handed! 😂🍏
I’ll be bringing along some limited-edition Little Bag of Herbs goodies, all with an apple theme, jams, jellies, chutneys, teas and a few other appley creations I’m currently plotting in the kitchen. 🧙‍♀️🍎
Some will be made especially for this event, so once they’re gone, they’re gone!

Sorry I've been a bit quiet on here lately, but it's been full steam ahead behind the scenes! The recent heat has meant some very early starts so I can get cooking before the kitchen becomes unbearable.
I've been busy making fresh batches and adding lots of new jams, chutneys and other goodies to the website. Here's just a small selection of what's been keeping me occupied!

🌿🐄 10 Green Bottles Open Day – Sunday 26th July! 🐄🌿
Looking for something to do this Sunday? Come along to Wood Farm, Wroughton (SN4 9BZ) between 10am and 2pm and enjoy a wonderful morning on the farm.
🚜 Meet the cows and see where your milk comes from. 🍔 Food stalls ☕ Coffee 🍦 Ice cream 🌾 A great family day out supporting local businesses and local farming.
I'll be there too with Little Bag of Herbs, bringing along a delicious selection of homemade jams, chutneys, marmalades and hand-blended herbal teas. Pop over and say hello – I'd love to see some familiar faces!

Was trying a new Lemon & Lime Marmalade today and thought I'd experiment on the hottest day of the year... 🍋🤣
Turns out standing over a boiling jam pan in a heatwave is not one of my brighter ideas. 🔥🥵

I've been asked to create a herbal tea blend for those mornings when you may be feeling a little delicate after the night before! 😅
I'm currently experimenting with a gentle, soothing blend designed to help you ease into the day. Think comforting herbs, warming flavours and a nice cuppa when only a nice cuppa will do.
The blend is still very much in the testing stage, so it'll be a couple of weeks before it's ready. Once I've perfected it, I'll be looking for 3 lovely customers to be my official taste testers and give me their honest feedback.

My garden may look a little overgrown to some, but every corner has a purpose. 🌿
It's filled with herbs for the kitchen, poppies for the bees, fruit growing for the seasons ahead, and a wonderful wildflower bed buzzing with life. I'm also slowly creating a thyme lawn, which is a work in progress but will be worth the wait.
I've chosen nature over perfection. Not every garden needs straight lines, weed-free borders, and a manicured lawn. Sometimes the most beautiful gardens are the ones alive with birds, bees, butterflies, and food growing where it can.
It may look wild, but it's exactly how I want it. 💚
A wild garden isn't an untidy garden it's a garden working with nature, not against it. 🌼🐝🌿

Three jars. Three personalities. 🫙
🌶 Posh Piccalilli – bold, crunchy and proper old-school.
🌶🔥 Picachilli – like piccalilli’s slightly wilder cousin with a cheeky chilli kick.
🧀 Pickle & Ponder – rich, dark cheeseboard pickle made for thick cheddar and ploughman’s lunches.
All handmade in small batches in the Little Bag of Herbs kitchen with proper ingredients and no corners cut.
Perfect for cheese boards, sandwiches, pork pies… or standing at the fridge with a fork pretending you’re “just tasting”.

Trying out a homemade Branston-style pickle recipe today 😋
Lots of chopping, slow simmering, spices, and plenty of careful taste testing along the way. The kitchen smells incredible already 🫙✨
If this turns out as good as I’m hoping, cheese sandwiches are about to improve dramatically 😂
Obviously it won’t be called Branston 😅 still pondering the name while the kitchen smells gloriously pickly.
