Back in the kitchen 👩🏼‍🍳👩🏼‍🍳

It’s been lovely to be back in the kitchen baking this weekend 🥰 I’ve got a couple of cakes to do over these next couple of weeks, so it’s been nice to be back doing something I love and enjoy! 💛

When I had this request come through, I jumped at the chance as they gave me free reign over the design of the cake 🤩

It’s 4 layers of lemon sponge, lemon buttercream and lemon curd, decorated with a chocolate drip, macarons and dried flowers 🌸

This definitely has to be my favourite cake yet 😍😍

✨Announcement ✨

It’s with a very heavy heart, I’m saying goodbye to Sophie bakes for now...

I know it might shock a lot of people and it’s not a decision I’ve taken lightly and I’ve 100% given it a lot of thought.

I started my little business when I was on furlough last year and didn’t know when I’d be returning to work and needed something to keep me sane with the long days.

There are many reasons why I’ve come to this decision, having a new career and working full time, buying a house with my boyfriend that we will be renovating and basically missing my evenings and weekends.

But the main reason is I love baking, have done so since I was little, baking with my Nan. I just don’t want to come to resenting it and want to keep it as something I still love to do, when I want to do it.

I will of course honour all of the orders I’ve got booked in for the next couple of months, but it’s time to take a break from it for now and focus more on me 💛

Friends and family - please do keep asking me to bake for you as I’m more than happy to do this 🥰

H A P P Y 6 0 T H B I R T H D A Y D A D 🍾✨

It’s a special birthday in the Sophie bakes household today 🥳 my dear old dad turned 60 today and as he couldn’t celebrate how he wanted to due to lockdown 3.0, we couldn’t let the day go by without some chocolate cake!! 🤪

He didn’t want an over the top cake, so we tried to keep it as simple as possible 😄 4 layers of chocolate sponge, chocolate buttercream and decorated with strawberries and ferrero rocher on top! 😋
