🎂 18 years of The Pretty Cake Company 🎂

Today marks 18 years since I officially launched The Pretty Cake Company — and honestly, I’m not quite sure where those years have gone!

What started around the kitchen table, after making my daughter’s 3rd birthday cake — a rather ambitious fairy-tale castle with marshmallow turrets — has grown into a business I could never have imagined back then.

Over the years, the little celebration cakes evolved into what The Pretty Cake Company is today: luxury, bespoke wedding cakes, designed and made by me from my studio in Oxfordshire.

18 years of sketching ideas, developing designs, baking, decorating, delivering cakes to beautiful venues, meeting wonderful couples and, most importantly, being trusted to create such a special part of their wedding day.

I’ve had the privilege of seeing so many trends come and go, while continuing to create cakes that feel personal, timeless and completely theirs.

And after 18 years, I still get that little feeling of excitement when I see a finished cake standing in front of me — which I think is probably a good sign. 🤍

So today, I’m raising a slice of cake to 18 years of The Pretty Cake Company.

To every couple who has trusted me with their wedding cake, every venue and supplier I’ve had the pleasure of working alongside, and everyone who has recommended me, shared my work or simply followed along over the years…

A pretty heart-shaped Lambeth wedding cake, surrounded by a sea of hand-piped cupcakes
The heart cake is finished with delicate vintage piping, intricate shell borders and the sweetest little “Just Married” inscription, with coordinating cupcakes in soft blush and ivory.

This was a lovely choice for a relaxed wedding celebration where guests can help themselves to individual cakes — while still having a beautiful centrepiece for the day. Congratulations Megan and Ed and thank you for the kind words. ❤️

One thing I’ve noticed over the past year is that many couples are leaving their wedding cake until much later than they realise — and by then, there simply isn’t enough time to enjoy the full experience.

I love taking the time to meet you, hear all about your plans, talk through ideas and create something that feels completely personal to your wedding. And, of course, there’s the all-important cake tasting.

The quieter autumn and winter months are the perfect time for this.

If you’re getting married in 2027, booking your cake now means you can take your time with your consultation and tasting, rather than trying to fit everything in as your wedding date approaches.

With 18 years of experience creating bespoke wedding cakes, and being recommended by many of the finest wedding venues and suppliers across Oxfordshire, Gloucestershire and the Cotswolds, my diary for 2027 is already beginning to fill.

A beautiful three-tiered wedding cake for Alexandra and Matthew at Caswell House

Soft ivory buttercream was layered with delicate watercolour smudge detailing in the palest sage green creating a subtle finish across each tier.

The cake was finished with loose arrangements of fresh flowers by H A Z E L E A. in soft whites, blush and muted lilac, bringing a natural, romantic feel to the design.

A lovely combination of simplicity, softness and a little something unexpected.

A timeless wedding cake for Aileen & Josh 🤍

Set against the breathtaking surroundings of the Bodleian Library, this elegant three tiered cake was finished in softly textured white buttercream and adorned with delicate blush roses, fresh foliage and the prettiest little white blooms.

The cake was beautifully complemented by an abundant, romantic floral installation by in rosemary, bringing the whole setting to life with an effortless, garden-inspired feel.

A little touch of romance and a beautiful historic setting.

Congratulations to Emma and John who got married last week at Caswell House. They opted for a delicious buttercream finished wedding cake decorated with an abundance of beautiful florals from Joanna Carter Wedding Flowers.
