Another glimpse of our recent styled shoot, featuring my Pink + Pistachio cake design! 🌿🌸

This one was all about the detail, and that ridged, ruffled texture had to be styled to perfection. Not too loose, not too heavy. Just enough movement to catch the light, but still hold its shape. Soft colour from a distance, but when you get closer there’s a lot more going on.

And then you see it in the space 😍 The long tables, the florals running through, candlelight, that deeper green against the soft pinks - everything working together.

Monochrome doesn’t mean boring. In fact, it's anything but! It can actually be of the strongest looks you can go for.

It’s about contrast. Clean tiers against darker surroundings. A soft ribbon against sharp edges. Every edge, every finish, every join has to be completely perfect - which is what makes it feel so premium.

5 things you probably didn’t know about luxury wedding cake makers…

🤍 Most of the work happens before I even touch the cake. Sketching, planning, working out proportions and how it’s actually going to look in your venue.

🤍 I don’t just “make a cake”. I’m thinking about where it’s going, what’s behind it, what’s around it, and how it’s going to be seen.

🤍 The finish matters more than people realise. Sharp edges, smooth sides, and total precision - that’s what makes it look high-end, not just the design.

🤍 Flavour is hugely important to me. Everything is baked fresh for your wedding week, and yes… I care just as much about how it tastes as how it looks.

🤍 I’m still tweaking things on the day. Setting up, adjusting, stepping back, fixing small details - making sure it’s exactly how it should be before anyone sees it.

Romantic doesn’t have to mean traditional. You can still have softness, movement, detail… without it feeling dated.

This is where I sit with designs like this. Taking something classic like ruffles and reworking it so it feels cleaner, sharper, more current. You still get that romantic feel. Just done in a way that suits how weddings look now!
