THERE'S ONLY 1 SUPERHERO FOR ME 🩵

It's not Thor, Batman or Spiderman.... Nope, it's my dad, pops, daddio and yesterday was his 70th birthday 🤫🤫🤫 so at the weekend we celebrated, went out for a meal and spoilt him with presents and of course I made him a special cake.

Now anyone that knows my dad knows how let's say "honest" he is with his opinions and as much as he loved his cake he did tell me "You need to work on your rod skills Jen 😂" yes dad I know 🤦🏻‍♀️😁

I think I redeemed myself though with the vanilla bean sponge and seedless raspberry jam sponge that DIDN'T require any custard 🤣

IT ALL WENT A BIT KPOP CRAZY HERE 💜

3 KPop Demon Hunters cakes in 3 weeks of each other, all very different and this is now Ava's 6th birthday cake I've made her. 🥹

Still this family's favourite funfetti sprinkle sponge with raspberry jam but Ava changed it up and wanted a fondant finish.

So here we have all the ribbons, glitter balls and glam.

Angela has had several cakes from me now but this time it was her turn. She sent me a few inspo pics of what she liked with sugar roses, macarons and that infamous gold drip....it's been a while. This was a huge 10 inch 3 layer, don't underestimate the size of these bad boys!

Also, how strange must it be being born on the 29th of February and having in effect 2 ages 🤷🏻‍♀️

HERE'S TO ALL THE FARMERS 🚜🚜

We are so fortunate to live in the countryside, the Fens where tractors are a common sight. We're surrounded by fields and can see the crops, potatoes, cabbages, cauliflower wheat, corn all growing through the year but that doesn't just happen by magic....Farmers work ALL hours, we can hear the ploughs in the fields at all hours yet they don't get the recognition they deserve.

So farmers, Trent's tractor ploughing a field is one for you... and Trent of course who loves a tractor and trailer.

This was a massive and heavy 2 layer 9/13 inch chocolate fudge cake.

This style cake seems to be going nowhere just yet, I've made a few 😁 and getting the looped track to dry in juuuust the right position isn't always as easy as it looks.

Jaxon celebrated his birthday with this cake and matching cupcakes, with each set of fondant flames painted to match the big flame arch on his cake. ...cars are toys, I'm not that good guys 😉😁

There's some characters I make and I don't have a blooming clue who or what they are, but by the time I've googled Google to the bitter end for all the details I know everything about them 😂

I ONLY MAKE BLACK BUTTERCREAM IF IT'S CHOCOLATE...WHY?⬇️

Because I use black carbon cocoa powder, let it bloom and then add it to my buttercream. Leave it overnight, do the good old microwave method and add a bit of black colouring which is a lot less than before how I used to make it.

This is why I only make it black when it's chocolate, otherwise you need a WHOLE LOTTA black food colouring and who wants that in their mouth when you could be tasting a rich, dark chocolate flavour 🙌🏻
