Hey peeps! Something non-food related for once ❤️

I am on my local halls committee, and we are holding our very first Music Festival!

Live On The Green, Christchurch

MAY 2026 - what a month ❤️

Wow. Now the month is nearly over, I’m just sat looking back on everything we’ve done this month….

6 Markets, the Farmers Fayre, Birthday Brownies/Cookies (lots!), Four Weddings, Coffee & Cake, Corporate Work Lunches, Afternoon Teas (both big and small numbers), Sausage Rolls which went off to a wake, Volunteer Cooked for Feed Fenland, Corporate Buffets, Canapes for Sizzlers, Wake Catering and my birthday thrown in….!

I also got the keys to my first storage unit so I can finally empty my house and mums house of all the equipment and reclaim some of the rooms!!

I am still in my pyjamas today, as you can imagine….. I’ve needed it 😴

We’ve had a cracking team support us this month, both family and friends and we could not have done it without them!

Some amazing feedback which I can’t wait to share with you all soon.

Every like, comment, share is so appreciated, I need more months like this one, it’s been amazing to be so busy (some more sleep would be welcomed though 😉).

Didn’t manage many photos today but - surprise surprise, another wedding!!! ❤️

Hot buffet for 94. Such a beautiful day for a lovely wedding, the guests were so lovely, Norwich Arts Centre were incredible hosts, and the food went down a storm (so much so we were asked to stay late to keep serving or to keep all the left overs. One gent came up 4 times in the end as he couldn’t get enough and pulled us aside to tell us how fab it was! Humble tonight I am not 🤣🤪)

We feel very lucky to work with some amazing caterers, such as our friends at Sizzler barbecue caterers. They are a 1000 ⭐️ BBQ cater who are completely amazing at what they do, and we had the privilege of providing canapés for a wedding they catered yesterday.

Nicola knew exactly what she wanted and we provided everything in labelled tubs ready to be assembled freshly and quickly onsite!

They are fabulous, really highly recommend checking them out if you are looking for the BEST BBQ!

I am no cake maker or decorator, but David requested a Nutella cake for Danielle’s birthday; I obviously had to oblige, and have to say, I am rather pleased with myself.

Gutted I can’t try it myself being Coeliac, but don’t feel sorry for me, my husband (still seems weird saying that!) made me some delicious Vanilla Pod and Black Cherry Ice Cream so I don’t miss out - he gets roped in to make from scratch all the ice creams for our catering bookings (as well as the Pâté and Parfaits).

We really do run a family business, and remember every catering booking helps me keep Kenny busy and stops me from becoming a fishing widow 🤣

Now off to celebrate both David and Danielle’s birthday surrounded by family and friends, with a bottle of red and a delicious bbq filled with homemade foods; our contribution aside from the cake and ice cream is Gluten Free Mac and Cheese and Beef Short Ribs in a delicious gravy (similar to the tasty ones served in Arbuckles).

PATIENCE WITH ME 🥰

Hi guys, just a quick one - I know I have a backlog of emails and messages to get through.

May has been an incredible (insane) month and I am running on empty if I’m honest. Lots and lots of late nights and 4/5am starts and so by the time I finish in the evening, I’m fit to collapse (desperately need to book in to a chiropractor or sports massage therapist at this point 😆) .

I’m hoping to get some time next week to give you all a reply, send deposit details etc but please just bear with me.

The Cakery is a family run business, but the admin and messages etc all falls on my head and so it’s the first thing to slip when the days have been as long as they have (mum has even had to take annual leave for some days this month to assist) 😅

Today’s agenda:
Carvery for 90 for a Wedding
Individual buffet boxes for 75 for a wedding
Afternoon tea for 6 + some extra sandwiches for a 60th Birthday

Oh and I guess I better mention it - it’s David’s birthday today, and mine on Monday. Both working on our birthdays, living the life 😆🤣

First big wedding of the season, smashed it 💗

I said I would do a proper write up, so here we go!

Canapés:
Vol-Au-Vents (egg mayonnaise, tuna & cucumber and chicken in white sauce)
Sausage Rolls (plain and sage & caramelised onion)
Pigs in Blankets
Miniature Yorkshires filled with creamed horseradish and roast beef

Starters were;
Chicken Liver Parfait with Toasted Sourdough
Potato & Leek Soup with Fresh Bread Roll
Garlic Mushrooms with Toasted Sourdough
Mains (which I didn’t get any photos of, whoops!), were a choice of Chicken & Bacon, Steak & Ale or Mushroom Bourguignon Pie served with Mashed Potatoes, Spring Greens, Rainbow Carrots, Green Beans and Tenderstem Broccoli with a Onion & Red Wine Gravy

Desserts were:
Chocolate Brownie with Homemade Vanilla Pod Ice Cream, Chocolate Orange Sauce & Candied Orange

Sticky Toffee Pudding with plenty of sauce, Clotted Cream & Toffee Shards

White Chocolate & Strawberry Cheesecake with Strawberry Coulis

In the evening we then served pulled pork, sausage meat stuffing, jacket potatoes, mac & cheese, potato salad, coleslaw and mixed salad.

The lovely couple supplied the bar, equipment and all drinks and we provided two members of staff to serve drinks and collect glasses, replenish supplies and ice throughout the evening.

We have the most incredible team of family and friends supporting us for our big events and they all worked their ar*es off from the minute we arrived to when we left. The sheer amount of work that goes into catering a wedding - it starts days before, with all of the prep work, endless lists, loading and unloading of equipment and my whole team did not skip a beat.

The message I’ve had from our lovely bride and groom today has actually made me cry 🤣 we’ve had absolutely glowing feedback, makes all the hard work worth it!!

Just another 3 weddings to go the rest of this month! 🤭😆

Made it home at 1:15am! What a day!! 💗

Beautiful couple, tying the knot at a beautiful venue, with beautiful food, and beautiful weather just to top it off… What more could you want!! 🤪

Will pop a proper post up later with some more pics, but today could not have ran as smoothly as it did (without a hitch!!!), without my team of beautiful family and friends who really work so bloomin hard, staying and helping right till the very end despite it being such a long day (19 hours from when the oven first went on this morning, after a 17 hour day yesterday 🤭)

Canapés at 3pm, 3 course meal at 5pm and hog roast at 9pm. SO much positive feedback from guests, totally chuffed ❤️

Now to do it all again tomorrow with afternoon tea, birthday cookie and coffee and cake for 40…… let’s go!! 💪🏼

Last night, I could not sleep. Constant tossing and turning worrying that the weather (in combination with a bank holiday and after such a huge event in town last weekend) would ruin the Farmers Fayre today, and I’d be left with loads of bakes (and at a loss financially 😂).

I came home with really not much stock at all!

I am always blown away at how many people come over and buy goodies, and support all of the other brilliant traders.

Thank you to every single one of you who took time out of your day to come down, and shop with these small businesses that gave up their time today. Your support means the world to us all and is so hugely appreciated! Makes the lack of sleep, stress, long days getting everything made and baked worth it (we’re all cream crackered now, my bed is calling!!! 😂).
