💛 Thank you for another lovely week at The Avenue!

As the summer holidays slowly start drawing to an end (although hopefully not the sunshine just yet! ☀️), we just wanted to say a big thank you to everyone who’s spent a little bit of their summer with us.

We’ve loved seeing familiar faces, welcoming new ones, families popping in together, little ones enjoying their summer treats, and all the chats and catch-ups along the way. It’s those everyday moments that make The Avenue feel like so much more than just a cafe 🫶

There’s still a bit of summer left to enjoy and a last chance to tuck into your favourites from our Summer Menu before we change things around from 1st September and gently head into a new season. 🍂

Here’s to squeezing a little more out of summer while we still can. ☀️

We say it a lot, but The Avenue really is more than just a cafe to us. 🧡

We’re so grateful for every single person who chooses to spend a little part of their day with us, especially those familiar faces we’re lucky enough to see week after week.

We know your usual orders, we remember your names, and quite often we get to hear your stories too. The happy news, the difficult days, family updates, holiday plans… and all the little bits of life in between.

Somewhere along the way, it’s become about so much more than serving coffee and food. It’s about community, conversation and having somewhere you can walk through the door and feel comfortable.

☀️ IT’S MELTING. WHO STOLE THE AIR?! 🥵😂

If anyone finds a nice cool breeze knocking about Whitley Bay, PLEASE SEND IT OUR WAY.

We’re currently serving coffee, cake and comfort food… while slowly becoming part of the furniture. 😂

The iced drinks are flowing and we’re pretending the kitchen isn’t approximately the surface of the sun. 🔥

Pop in, keep cool and please be gentle with your slightly melted Avenue Cafe team today. 🫠☕️

☀️ A little heads-up for this week… ☀️

It’s set to be a very hot one, with temperatures potentially reaching 30–32°C outside. 🥵

Unfortunately, our little cafe kitchen gets much, much hotter than outside, given previous heatwaves there is potential for it to creep up towards 38°C+. With ovens, grills and everything else going, it can become pretty unbearable for our team.

So today, please be gentle with us. 💛

We’ll be doing our very best to keep the food, drinks and smiles coming, but things may take a little longer than usual and, if the kitchen temperature becomes unsafe or simply too much for the team, there is a possibility we may need to close a little earlier than normal.

We’ll keep you updated if anything changes.

In the meantime, stay cool, drink plenty… and spare a thought for us melting away behind the kitchen door! 😂☀️

🔥 A little heads-up for tomorrow! 🔥

The Avenue Café will be CLOSED tomorrow, Monday 10th August, while some essential fire alarm maintenance is carried out.

It’s just for the one day and we’ll be back open as normal on Tuesday 11th August ☕️

With freshly baked scones, fresh brews and plenty of delicious homemade comfort food waiting for you! 🥰

Just a little weekend reminder from us ❤️

If you’re heading next door to Jam Jar Cinema this weekend, don’t forget to show us your cinema ticket and we’ll take 10% off your bill 🎬☕ A nice excuse to pop in for something to eat before the film… or cake afterwards!

Our Summer Menu and Kids Menu have been going down an absolute treat over the holidays so far, and it’s been lovely seeing so many families, familiar faces and new ones coming through the door. ☀️

There’s still plenty of the summer holidays left, so if you’re wondering what to do with the kids, meeting a friend for a cuppa, or just fancy getting out of the house for a bit, come and see us.

☀️ Summer is in full swing at The Avenue Cafe! ☀️

We've been so busy this week that social media has taken a bit of a back seat, which we're certainly not complaining about! 😊

If you haven't visited us yet this summer, our Summer Specials Menu and Kids Summer Menu are still going strong, alongside all of your favourites from our main menu. There's something for everyone! 🍽️

☀️ The Summer Holidays Have Arrived! ☀️

After lots of planning (and plenty of taste testing!) we’re so excited to finally share our Summer Holiday Menus with you.

Alongside all your usual Avenue Cafe favourites, we’ve added a selection of Summer Specials and a dedicated Kids Summer Menu, giving the whole family even more to choose from.

For a limited time, you’ll also find some extra summer bakes on the counter, including our new Raspberry & Coconut Scones, Sundried Tomato, Basil & Red Onion Scones, and a selection of seasonal cakes such as Victoria Sponge, Carrot Cake and Strawberry Shortcake.
As always, everything is freshly baked, and flavours may change depending on what we’ve been busy making in the kitchen!

Whether it’s breakfast after an early trip to the beach, lunch while you’re out and about, homemade cake and coffee while the kids enjoy an ice cream, or somewhere to escape the rain when the British summer inevitably lets us down ... we’d love to welcome you. 🌞
