Here's an update on one of our members' gardening work. Dave is our Chrysanthemum specialist and prize winning grower:

"Well, we’re off again. First 40 odd chrysanths (intermediates and early sprays) rooted and potted up, daffs for spring show uncovered and dahlias about to have heat mats turned on this week. Just hope we get a bit of warmer weather else Mrs W. Is going to be complaining about the electricity bill!!"

Wishing all our members, friends and followers a merry Christmas 🎄🍹

Haven’t posted for a while so thought I’d give you an update on what a dismal year of growing 2024 had been for me. Whether it was the low temperatures in June (2.5C below 2023) or the wet and cold September everything was two weeks behind where it should have been. My usual 10 shows were reduced to 5 with nothing on the show bench till Congleton during the first week September. I managed to pull ‘a rabbit out of the hat’ with a couple of wins in the Northern National winning a couple of medals (photos attached) and best bloom in section followed by four wins with dahlias at Malvern the highlight being a third consecutive year win in the 5 poms class. Out of 60 pots of chrysanths only showed 3 blooms and a couple of sprays, the rest given away. Two weeks after Malvern have some prize winning blooms with nowhere to go apart to the church on Friday where I’m sure they’ll be appreciated. Plans already made for 2025 and the main target being the Midland Pom championships at Malvern with 3x5 different varieties. Fingers crossed it’s a better year and I can at least get something on our show benches in August. Happy days!! The pictures of the giants were taken late September and not one got to a show - that’s timing for you!!!
