Another shout out - this time to Absolute Carpentry for our new window shelves. Although Mike is used to creating beautiful bespoke pieces of furniture, we are chuffed with our refurbished scaffold board shelving!

I’ve listened to quite a few customers tell me they’re pre-diabetic and giving up bread - and having a sneaky roll here and there!!

So, we’ve done a bit of research with our wonderful baker at Good Plates, and she has produced a very yummy rye bread.

If this is something you would like to order then let me know.

THE SCIENCE BIT:

Rye, especially whole grain and sourdough, causes a much slower, lower rise in blood sugar compared to wheat. It has been linked to lower insulin responses and better glucose management.

Aids Weight Management: The high levels of soluble fiber absorb water, keeping you feeling fuller for longer and naturally curbing overeating and snacking between meals.

Supports Digestion: The dense fiber content helps prevent constipation, supports healthy gut microbiota, and improves overall gastrointestinal function.

It’s a hot muggy one today! We’ve got some wonderful salad boxes going out the door. Olives, coleslaw, potato salad, quiche, scotch eggs and more.

Our flavoured sourdoughs from Good Plates are on the shelf just waiting to accompany your bbq shenanigans. We’ve got Jalepeno, cheddar, olive and more.

Lots of catering this weekend.🎂🍰

Today we had the pleasure of catering for a lovely group of ladies celebrating a hen weekend on Margate Beach. We created a beautiful beach setup and served a selection of platters featuring freshly made dips, vintage cheddar, and Cornish charcuterie.

Sometimes a traditional buffet can feel a little too heavy, so why not choose a lighter option with a selection of freshly made canapés instead?

As it hots up this weekend we’ve got some fruity delights on the counter tomorrow.

Fruit tarts, trifles, and fresh cream eclairs will all be jostling for a place at your bank holiday table.

If you’re off to the beach then grab one of our bucket and spade picnics. £6.50 including a lunch!

We’ve also restocked on our Alp blossom cheese, Sparkenhoe Red Leicester, Cotswold Brie and other great cheeses.

Hosting a bbq? We have baps, torpedo rolls and french sticks - nothing like nibbling a salt and pepper tiger French stick with your summer salad.

It’s going to be a beautiful bank holiday and our counter will be full of fruit tarts, lemon meringue tarts and trifles....

It’s going to be a beautiful bank holiday and our counter will be full of fruit tarts, lemon meringue tarts and trifles.

We’ve also got new cheeses incoming. I begin Cheesemonger training in June so will bring a whole new range to the shop - just in time for summer picnics!

Potato salad, coleslaw, bulgar wheat and beetroot carpaccio will all be on the counter too.

We’ve got some other exciting goodies in the pipeline - watch this space.
