A few things you might not know we sell…

Fresh milk and bread, shallots and pickling vinegar, alcohol, hazelnuts, Mega Marshmallows… and because it’s October, we’ve also got pumpkins, Halloween cookies, spooky cupcake cases and even spring bulbs ready for planting.

Basically, your October essentials are looking pretty well covered. 😂

Next time you’re in, give yourself an extra five minutes for a proper browse, there’s always more to discover around the shop.

Our spring bulbs are now in, and now’s the time to get them planted if you want a lovely burst of colour when spring rolls around.

Spotted something a little different in the shop? 👀

These beauties are quinces, and if your first thought is, “Lovely… but what on earth do I do with one?” We are here to help!

A little quince knowledge for you:

They’re incredibly fragrant, but unlike an apple or pear, they’re generally cooked rather than eaten raw. Once cooked, they soften, develop a beautiful pinky colour and become something completely different.

They’re brilliant for jellies, jams, chutneys, pies, poached desserts and even membrillo - the traditional quince paste that goes VERY nicely with cheese.

And because we’re not just going to sell you a mysterious fruit and leave you to figure it out… we’ve got recipe sheets ready for you to pick up too.

Grab a few quinces, grab a recipe, and try something a little different this autumn.
