Bonjour tout le monde,
Vous allez bien ? 😀
You're good? 😀

We are back for a new week, after our little break, still with our new opening hours due to works starting in Sankey Street for 4 months from 20th April (it's been delayed and apparently it's now extended to end of October 😒) forcing us to change our way of working. Indeed the Bakery side of our business is stopped between 15th April and end of August for now which means NO pastries and NO breakfast options between Wednesday and Friday included.

Our new opening hours are as follows:
> Wednesday to Friday: 12pm to 4pm for lunch, cakes and drinks then 6pm to 8pm for Evening Bistro Menu.
> Saturday: 10am to 4pm (pastries and breads should be pre-ordered to avoid disappointment).
> Sunday (from 10/05) 10.30am to 11.30am for collection of breads and pastries then Brunch options from 11.30am to 3pm (last food order 2.30pm) OR Special Sunday Lunch on 1st Sunday of the month over the summer. Bookings are highly recommended by Thursdays 4pm.

🌞 Summer holiday will come to and end soon, rain is coming but if you don't feel like cooking, why not order our Apéro Platters (mix of French cheeses and charcuteries with 1 baguette) or Baguettes Campaillette for your barbecues 😃 48h notice is required for any orders. Merci 🙂

For today we have made a lot of homemade sweet and savoury food, treats, special bakes and desserts for you all to suit the weather and to please your tastebuds 😃
Always made from scratch in our Café by the 2 of us. Don't ask us if we've made all this (it's a shocking question 😲), we're both French and it's the name of the business, we love food and respect it 🙂
Just a note if you didn't know but the word "gourmand" has nothing to do with the first literal translation "greedy", au contraire !! 😃 A "Gourmand" enjoys simple well cooked and made food, it's a "bon vivant", a hearty eater or an Epicurean, enjoying good drinks and food. Or the other meaning of "Gourmand" for our Café is mouthwatering, appetising, delightful. Everything we do here for you 😃

Drinkwise, we have a large choice of delightful loose leaf teas, hot chocolates and coffees made with locally roasted coffee beans.
We also have classic soft drinks in stock and we brought back from France more Teisseire syrups (Grenadine, Passion fruit and Peach) to mix with water and some seasonal classic such as "Gini" imported from France, perfect for spring and summer.
The Vietnamese Iced coffee is also available since April and there's a Special Offer with the Friday Special Sandwich, Bánh Mì.
The new drink of the month is Cherry juice 🍒

If you call in this week, as usual, you'll find in our little piece of France, homemade and handmade cakes and classic treats all made by us on site that you'll find nowhere else except in France 😉
We're definitely cheaper than a flight to France and even if you go to France you're not even sure to get this level of quality and freshness if you don't know where to go 😄

If you don't mind processed food and cakes charged at crazy prices when not handmade and/or homemade, we are probably not for you 🤷‍♀️🤷‍♂️
As in our Café, everything is made by us on site and fairly priced. We like good food and we like to share it by baking and cooking everything from scratch. "Épicuriens" (Epicurean) we said in French 😊

For breakfast (on weekends here) French people have sweet food so you can enjoy Croissants, Pains au chocolat, Pain perdu (traditional French toasts), Tartines (1/2 Baguette tradition with jam and butter), Chouquettes (except on Fridays) and many other homemade treats from 10am on Saturdays as stock lasts.
Don't hesitate to spread the word as this fact doesn't seem well known 🙂
We are an unique place, when we say you're in France with us, you ARE in France 🙂
Also new breakfast offers starting a couple of weekends ago so you can feel even more in France 🇫🇷 🥐🥖🧈☕️🧃

Regarding the Menu, we will be serving our French Onion soup, Quiches, Croque Monsieur, Terrine de Courgettes, Sandwiches with our Baguettes Campaillette, Salads and Steak Haché Frites. There are plenty of options so you'll find your happiness 😀
We also have the Apéro Platter with 1 Baguette, cornichons, French cured meats and French cheeses all imported from France.

We are here until 4pm so come in and say "Bonjour" as we welcome you in our home in a way and it's the best and a really simple way to start a conversation 😀
And same when you leave, no matter how busy we are, you can still thank us and say goodbye. You would never leave your hosts' house without thanking and greeting them, right ? 😁

Everything is prepared on order for freshness and deliciousness. We are not a fast food. We love and respect food.
Lunch is available from 12pm between Wednesday and Saturday in our Café and is sacred. In France, we take our time to enjoy our meal 🙂

🍽 Or visit us between 6pm and 8pm for our Evening Bistro Menu for a tasty meal. This is our new offer for 4 months while the roadworks will be in place in the street and neighbourhood.

If you're after scrumptious and homemade goodies, we have Fruits tarts with many with berries as it's finally their season 🙌, Crème caramel, Coulants au chocolat (melt in the middle chocolate cake), Crème brûlée, Café Liégeois (coffee cream dessert topped with our homemade vanilla chantilly), Cheesecake vanille et compotée de fruits rouges (vanilla cheesecake topped with summer berries compote) and the Cake on the stand is a Gâteau renversé à l'ananas (Caramelised Pineapple Cake) will be available later this week.
Tartes au citron meringuées, Charlotte aux framboises (raspberry Charlotte cake) and Mousse au chocolat will be available for the weekend.

🥐 Please note that our traditional French pastries (Croissants pur beurre (full butter) and Pains au chocolat) are ONLY available on Saturdays and Sundays for now. They are homemade on site by us from scratch using specific French flours and butters as you would find in any bakeries in France and they are always really popular so to guarantee availability and avoid any disappointment please pre-order them with at least 48h notice or by Thursdays 4pm.

The pre-order rules have been in place for 3 years now to guarantee the happiness of as many people as possible and make it fair for all our customers so don't hesitate to contact us to pre-order. Merci 🙂
(We know you'd like to keep this super secret to yourself but come on let's share those delicious pastries with others 😁)
Reminder: It takes approximately 30 hours for us to process a batch from scratch hence the pre-ordering rules in place. We are French artisan bakers not retailers opening a cardboard of frozen croissants or ready to sell croissants who won't be able to tell you how it's made and give you jam and butter with it when the French just enjoy their croissants as they are. Thank you.

You can buy our Baguettes Campaillette enjoy at home and you can buy French cheeses and/or charcuteries to go with them. All our goodies are imported from France and some are quality labelled, certified and protected products. We're happy to talk you through any of them.
We also have French artisans jams from Brittany made with quality and seasonal ingredients that will be perfect for your tartines (slice of half a baguette).
You can also pre-order Baguettes tradition if you need many for a party. 24h notice is required. Merci 🙂

For traditional French pastries, breads and food, come see us, the only piece of France in the North West 😎

You can treat yourself with some Financiers (almond cakes), Chouquettes, Noisettins (hazelnut biscuits), Chocolate chips and pecan Cookies, Vanilla Biscuits de Savoie, Palmiers, Blueberry Muffins.

Madeleines will be available from Friday as usual. It's the only day where you won't be able to get Chouquettes from us.

We keep repeating that everything we do is homemade onsite just by the 2 of us from scratch but it's just because people seem so unaware of that and surprised when they visit us. After more than 4 years you should know now what to expect when you come in our little piece of France 😁
We don't sell an identity, we are French so everything is like what you would find in France in a classic and traditional Bakery in "Province" (provinces) (we're not Paris and we don't do trendy Instagrammable pastries and cakes).
For an authentic French food experience come see the French 😃 At Gourmand ! we mean what we say we don't play with our communication to sell something 🙂
🗣 Little tip: To check if the business you're in which has a French name or seems to offer French food are really French or do sell real French food, ask the staff how it's been done or check if the boss is French and ask them how they produce those French dishes or cakes and their stories. It's how you differentiate those which sell an identity because it's "sexy" and the authentic French businesses with passionate owners and workers 🙂

For the coming Sundays, we will be mainly serving our new Brunch offers. Please see posts about our new Menus for up to end of August.
However we still keep the 1st of each Summer month to cook and serve some
classics of French cuisine. The next Special Sunday Lunches will be as follows:
- Sunday 7/06: Moules Frites, mussels cooked with garlic and white wine served with Northern France fries. - DONE -
- Sunday 5/07: "Parillada de la mer" (mix of fresh seafood cooked on plancha) served with tomates Provençales (roasted tomatoes with garlic, herbs, olive oil and breadcrumbs) and wild rice. - DONE -

*** Les boissons de l'été ***
Summer drinks

You know us at Gourmand! we like to make everything ourselves from scratch for our food but also our drinks when possible.
So over the summer and with our current Evening Bistro Menu, you can find, as stocks last, Citronnade (homemade lemonade), Agrumade (squeezed citrus fruits with a hint of vanilla) and our homemade non alcoholic Sangria full of fruits.
Our homemade summer drinks are so popular and so good that some customers couldn't decide which one to get so had them all or we saw some colleagues almost fighting for the last glass 😁

Although you can find US fizzy drinks known worldwide in our fridge, you can also get imported drinks from France such as classic Orangina, Orangina rouge (only in the summer and as stock lasts) and Gini, a lime and lemon fizzy drink. We also have Evian and Perrier.

You can enjoy the timeless "Sirops Teisseire", concentrated fruits syrups to mix with water, enjoyed by both kids and adults in France. It also allow us French, when younger, to be softly introduced to drinking beer as some syrups can be added to beers for a sweet alcoholic drink. As we still don't have a license, you won't be able to try those in our Café but next time you're at a terrace of a "café" (bar) in France, order "un demi pêche " (1/2 pint of lager with peach syrup) or "un Monaco" (shandy and grenadine syrup).
The flavours available, all year round, at Gourmand! are Grenadine (berries), Menthe (mint), Fruit de la passion (passion fruit) and Pêche (peach).

Over the past summers, we also liked to make a Special drink we discovered thanks to a friend in France: Gnamakoudji or Ginger & Pineapple juice. A speciality originally from West Africa with roots in Ivory Coast and you might know how much France is multicultural and get influenced by its many communities from African countries throughout the country.
We'll make a batch in September to nicely end the summer.

Of course you can still get iced coffees here but you can especially get Vietnamese iced coffee, with a Bánh Mì on Friday or just any days to quench your thirst between April and September.

So have you tried one of our homemade drinks? If so, which one is your favourite here?

Bonjour tout le monde,
Pas trop chaud ? 😀
You're not too hot? 😀

We are back for a new week, but a very short one as we'll close at 4pm today. Due to the little heatwave, we won't open for the Evening Bistro Menu on Wednesday and Thursday this week. You can book for the Evening Bistro Menu for Friday 14/08 between 6pm and 8pm.

Our new opening hours due to works starting in Sankey Street for 4 months from 20th April (we've been told it's been delayed and they are currently in front of our shop and will be working until September) forcing us to change our way of working are still on. Indeed the Bakery side of our business is stopped between 15th April and end of August for now which means NO pastries and NO breakfast options between Wednesday and Friday included.

Our new opening hours are as follows (except this week as announced above):

⚠️ We'll be closed as an exception from Wednesday 19/08 to Friday 21/08 included. We'll re-open at 12pm on Saturday and will be serving lunch and cakes ONLY until 4pm (landing in London after midnight will make it difficult for us to start a pastries process, that usually starts on Thursday evening, that will allow us to get pastries ready for 10am on Saturday).
On Sunday 23/08, there won't be any pastries nor Brunch Set Menu as an exception (again the process for pastries for the weekend starts on Thursday evening). We'll open at 12pm and will serve Steak Frites with either Peppercorn sauce or Bleu d'Auvergne sauce and bookings are now open.

📣ALSO this Sunday 16/08 we will open at 12pm for lunch, cakes and drinks ONLY. There won't be Brunch nor Pastries (Croissants, Pains au chocolat, Brioches). Merci.📣

🌞 Summer is definitely here so order your Apéro Platters (mix of French cheeses and charcuteries with 1 baguette), Light Bites, Salads or Baguettes Campaillette for your gatherings or barbecues 😃 48h notice is required for any orders. Merci 🙂

*** Cheesecake Judith Passion ***
Or Cheesecake citron vert mangue passion

You know when it's warm we like to to do a refreshing dessert that is more Anglo-Saxon than French but we do it with our twist.

We have in our collection of Cheesecakes different flavours (vanilla and cherry; chocolate; vanilla and chestnut spread; lime and raspberry) but this weekend is a popular one: The Cheesecake Judith or Lime cheesecake with a Bastogne base (cinnamon biscuits) made of.a lime cream cheese and topped with a mango & passion fruit coulis.

Have you tried it yet ? What's your favourite Cheesecake at ?

Bon appétit !!
