Right, you lovely lot… whilst some people are already panicking about Christmas shopping, I’ve been busy feeding my Christmas cakes brandy and making sure Santa’s going to be VERY well looked after this year. 😂🥃🎅🏻

🎂 FIRST UP… MY CHRISTMAS CAKES! 🎂

I’ve been baking another batch of these beauties today, absolutely LOADED with delicious, high-quality fruit and brandy. 🤤

They’ll now be wrapped up and fed every few weeks until collection, so they’ll be beautifully matured and ready to take centre stage on your Christmas table! ❤️

And honestly? That’s absolutely fine. ❤️ But I want to be open about something when it comes to my business.

I won’t chase enquiries or follow up with people who are shopping around purely on price. Not because I think I’m better than anyone else, but because I know the time, effort, skill and love that goes into every single thing I create. 🧁✨

There are some incredibly talented home bakers in our area, and I will never knock anyone for choosing a different baker. There will always be someone who can make a cake for less, and if budget is your priority, that’s absolutely your choice!

But if you’re looking for something truly bespoke, handcrafted with care, designed around your vision and made to look beautiful, you have to appreciate that comes at a cost.

I don’t charge extortionate prices. In fact, I know there are bakes where I still undercharge, particularly when I’m pushing myself creatively, learning new techniques or taking on something that challenges my skill set.

I will NEVER knowingly accept an order I’m not confident I can deliver, and if something doesn’t go to plan, I’ll always be honest and transparent with my clients. Your trust means far too much to me for anything less. ❤️

But here’s the reality of running a small business…

Ingredients cost money. Equipment costs money. Packaging costs money. Electricity costs money. And my time? That has value too.

From the initial messages and design planning to shopping, baking, filling, decorating, cleaning and all those little finishing touches you might never see, there is so much more to creating a bespoke cake than simply mixing a bowl of ingredients.

I’m building a business that I want to be sustainable long-term, one that can continue to grow, develop my skills and allow me to keep creating beautiful things for my customers. That means pricing my work in line with rising costs, the hours I put in and making a small profit — much of which goes straight back into the business anyway!

I’m not here to be the cheapest baker. I’m here to create something I’m proud to put my name on. 💖

And to every single person who books with me, trusts me with their special occasions, recommends me to friends or supports my little business in any way — please know how much I appreciate you.

I genuinely care about every order and will always strive to go above and beyond to create the best bespoke cake I possibly can for you.

The kindness so many of you have shown this week, watching this exhausted mum try to keep everything going whilst nursing a poorly little one, has genuinely been so lovely.

I wanted to share just a few of the beautiful things some of you have said to me recently, because honestly, they mean more than you probably realise. 🥹👇

Running a small business whilst raising three girls isn’t always easy. There are days when I’m running on very little sleep, juggling a million things at once, worrying about letting people down and wondering how on earth I’m going to get everything done.

But then I receive comments like these, and I remember exactly why I started.

I’m not a big business with a team behind me. It’s me, my little home bakery, a lot of hard work, a ridiculous amount of determination and a genuine love for making cakes that make people smile!

So, to everyone who has shown me kindness, sent a lovely message, been patient with me this week or supported my little business in any way…

8” vanilla sponge filled with strawberry jam and silky vanilla and finished in vanilla buttercream. Cake requested to be similar to little sister’s christening cake which was similar but in pink.

Nightmare before Christmas themed Birthday cake for little Jacob! Bottom 8” tier is a funfetti sponge filled with chocolate buttercream. Top 6” tier is a red velvet sponge filled with vanilla buttercream.

So much added sugarpaste details and handcrafted pieces but I absolutely loved undertaking this one!! Completed with a personalised topper and official figurines!
