🚨 “MY CAKE MAKER JUST CANCELLED… CAN YOU DO A CAKE FOR SATURDAY?” 🚨

Honestly… I get this message A LOT. 😂

And whilst I will always do my best to help where I can, the reality is that last-minute cake orders just aren’t always possible.

Unless your gal spends the entirety of her life permanently glued to the oven. 🤣🎂

If I’m quiet, or you can give me at least 3 days’ notice, I may be able to squeeze something in — but please don’t rely on it!

Because as much as I LOVE LOVE LOVE what I do… your gal is also a mum to three daughters.

As much as I’d love to survive on caffeine, never sleep and decorate cakes around the clock… my body simply wasn’t built that way. 😂💀

So PLEASE 🙏🏻 if you know you’re going to need a cake, BOOK EARLY.

And here’s why I’ve deliberately kept my deposit so low:

💗 I NEED TO SAY THIS… AND I MEAN EVERY SINGLE WORD. 💗

Sometimes I look at this little business I’ve built and genuinely can’t believe how far it’s come.

Because from the outside, you see the cake.

You see the pretty pictures.
The finished design.
The pretty colours.
The perfectly piped buttercream.
The little handmade details.

What you don’t see is everything that happens before that photo is taken.

You don’t see the hours spent thinking about a design.

You don’t see me standing in my kitchen at ridiculous hours because something didn’t go quite right and I refuse to send out something I’m not proud of.

You don’t see the countless hours I’ve spent watching tutorials, practising techniques, throwing things in the bin and starting again because I want to be better.

You don’t see the washing up.

God, the washing up. 😂

You don’t see the orders, messages, shopping lists, invoices, cleaning, ingredient prep, packaging, deliveries, collections and everything else that comes with running a business from your own home.

And you definitely don’t see the days where I’m exhausted, overwhelmed, questioning myself and wondering whether I’m actually good enough.

Because there are days I absolutely do wonder.

I’m not a huge bakery.

I don’t have a team.

I don’t have staff.

I don’t have someone else stepping in when I’m tired.

It’s me.

Just me, trying my absolute bloody hardest to create something beautiful for you while simultaneously keeping a household running and being a mum.

And that’s why your reviews hit differently. 🥹

When you leave a review saying you loved your cake…

When you tell me your child couldn’t stop smiling…

When you say your guests were blown away…

When you tell me you received compliments all night…

When you come back and order from me again…

I don’t just see a review.

I see confirmation that all those hours mattered.

That the sleepless nights mattered.

That the practising mattered.

That the money I’ve poured back into equipment, ingredients and learning mattered.

That the stress mattered.

That the decision to keep going on the days I doubted myself mattered.

And honestly?

Sometimes one lovely review can completely change my day.

Probably too much sometimes. 😂

I care about whether I’ve got every tiny detail right.

And I care because this isn’t just a job to me.

This is something I’ve built with my own two hands.

Something that started small.

Something that I’ve poured my heart, time, money, energy and ridiculous amounts of emotion into.

A LITTLE REAL TALK FROM BEHIND THE CAKES… 🩷

I’m going to be a little more honest than I usually am on here.

Physically, my health is currently not the best. I’ve been working ridiculously long weeks, pushing myself hard because I’m desperately trying to relocate my family to a better area and give my children the future I want for them.

But if I’m completely honest… it’s starting to take its toll but I’m no quitter!

Being told recently that I’m perimenopausal at just 37 has been a lot to process. Watching my body change, the weight gain, my skin deteriorating, the hair loss, the exhaustion… and then trying to carry on as though absolutely nothing is happening is mentally bloody hard.

And then there’s the brain fog. 🧠

OH, THE BRAIN FOG.

Some days I genuinely walk into a room and have absolutely no idea why I’m there. 😂 So if I’m a little slower replying, forget something you’ve told me, ask you to remind me of a detail or take slightly longer than usual to get back to you, please just bear with me.

I’m still here.
I’m still baking.
I’m still giving every single order my absolute everything.

But I’m also bloody exhausted.

Add to that having my children off for what feels like TWENTY YEARS at this point 😂 and your girl is running on fumes.

So this is just a little reminder that there is an actual human being behind this page, the messages, the invoices, the cakes and the Instagram/Facebook posts.

I might not always be operating at 100%.

Please be patient with me. 🩷

I’m doing my best, and right now, my best just looks a little different.

And if you’re also navigating perimenopause, burnout, motherhood, work and trying to keep all the plates spinning…

The release of Toy Story 5 has seen an influx of orders for Toy Story themed Birthday cakes! This 8” vanilla sponge filled with strawberry jam and vanilla buttercream was finished with white chocolate ganache and fondant details!

The client ordered these cute little figurines to be added! This is the second birthday cake I’ve completed for little Theodore! Cute as a button he is!
