It's National Organising Week this week which is organised by APDO Association of Professional Declutterers & Organisers and the theme is OVERCONSUMPTION.

Something, if you've followed me for a while, you will know that I'm really passionate about avoiding. Mainly because I think it's so easy to get caught up in it and it's now seen as the norm so it's a hard habit to kick! A habit that I still find difficult to quash even now, as I'm sure you all do too!

The definition of Overconsumption is the excessive use of goods, services, or natural resources beyond what is needed for basic survival or sustainable living so tell me, do you think you overconsume and what is your most bought category? Clothes, make up, seasonal decor?

Some of my clients are 100% ready to get rid of stuff to clear their homes and, in turn, clear their minds.

Others are not quite so gung ho, and take time and deliberation to choose to remove items from their home.

Neither is the wrong way and both ways are completely ok and can be worked with but, no one has ever told me they've regretted decluttering their home. They may miss an item briefly but not in an irreparable way. And alway tell me they enjoy the space much more!

If you'd like to find out more about the process of decluttering your space then drop me a message and lets have a chat.

I have a confession...

Life has not been all ch*****ne and roses in our house over the past few months. It's been a run of set backs, health worrries, financial knocks and generally kicks in the proverbial dick.

Summer is always a juggle but this year even more so with a toddler and teen who don't like to do any of the same things, my hormones deciding they've had enough and planning a cou by making my brain just stop working, crying at nothing and giving me hot flashes whilst in the hottest summer since records began.

And just to add to the chaos my already poorly MIL decided to break her hip whilst away on our 'holiday' which means more care and more drs and hospital appointments are necessary and very little 'holiday' was had.

Did I also tell you we're down to one car and it's none of the cars we owned 3 months ago?

So...as I said...sh*t.

I say this not for pity, but for a bit of help.

As you know if you follow this page I help people declutter and reorganise their homes. Not just for aesthetic purposes but also to help calm the mind, help your productivity and lift your general wellbeing and if you've been thinking about having a chat with me about this my inbox is always open!

I am also now releasing some body doubling sessions through out the week as I have realised in my 6 years doing this that sometimes some people just need someone there. Someone to hold them to account. Someone to keep them going when they would've given up if doing it on their own.

I am starting a group online session on a Tuesday at 9.30am. So whether you are working and need some focus time to get that awful thing done or whether you're not working and need to fill out some forms or make some calls this is the time and place to GET IT DONE for the same price as a pretty bog standard coffee in Costa.
I will also be offering face to face sessions shortly.

If this sounds like something you - or someone you know - would benefit from then drop me a message to get booked on!

And thank you for being here!

There's nothing like that feeling of walking into your holiday home on your first day and everything is clean, tidy and clutter free.

Then 7 days later you get home and instantly feel like your home is cluttered and chaotic.

That's because holiday homes ensure that they only have as much as you will need for your stay.

4 people = 4 plates
2 children = 2 plastic cups
A knife and fork for everyone and maybe a spare if you're lucky.

In holiday homes, everything needs to be quick and easy to clean and put back for the next guests. Everything needs to have a home. Whereas at home we get caught up in 'having it all', which often means having far more than you need and maxing out all our storage options!

Pairing back items can be the first, easy step to an easier house to maintain and also to give you space to spend time with your favourite people, just like on holiday.

Let me know if you get this feeling when you get back from holiday in the comments!
