In case you didn’t already know the Baby Food Pouch recyclable points in Ulverston have all gone as Terracycle is closing the scheme soon. But the good news is you can recycle them with other soft plastics such as crisp packets at either Co op (Market Street or Priory Road) 🙂

We have a new location for collecting food pouches thanks to Ulverston Food Waste Project 😊 They are based at the Parish Centre on Church Walk and their opening times are in the photo.
Yoghurt pouches are also accepted as well as baby food ones.

Quick update that we have now sent nearly 4000 pouches to Terracycle! Thank you everyone 🙂 Church Walk Preschool Nursery will get £77 paid to them as a result of this that will be well spent on giving lots of little people the best possible time at nursery :)

Hope you don’t mind me posting this but thought it might be of interest...

Washable cotton baby wipes are are great alternative to the standard packs of disposable wipes you are confronted with in shops. I ordered mine from Cheeky Wipes and they came in a simple paper bag, no plastic in sight 🙂 Even if you just choose to use them in the house it makes a difference to how much waste you’re creating. Just wish I’d known about them sooner!

I checked with Ella’s Kitchen whether you can put the multipack wrappers and the individual packet wrappers from these biscuits in the recycling collection and got this reply:

“Thanks for getting in touch. Yes you can put all the Ella’s Kitchen packaging including the parsnip + poppy seed savoury biscuits packs in the Ellacycle collection points 😊”

Also if you’re wondering why some brands of pouches have the ‘not yet recycled’ logo on it’s because it’s a standard logo used when less than 20% of councils collect it and doesn’t take into account Terracycle collection points. I’ve emailed various brands about this but whether or not they’ll change their packaging who knows!

Just chased up TerraCycle. They are low on collection boxes at the moment but ours is being prioritised. Please keep hold of your used pouches at home and hopefully it won’t be too much longer until it’s in Booths for you to use. I’ve got a 7kg box ready to be sent off! :)

Very excited that Booths have happily agreed to have the recycling collection point in their store. Just need to wait for it to arrive now. In the meantime start saving all your used food pouches and I will let you know as soon as the box is in the store 😄
