🚨 When did you last replace your hot water bottle? 👀

With the colder weather creeping in, hot water bottles are coming back out of the cupboards, but did you know it’s recommended that you replace yours every 2–3 years? 🥶

I came across this post from Money Saving Expert and thought it was such a useful reminder! ❤️

🔎 How to check how old yours is:

Take a look at the little circular stamp moulded into the rubber near the neck of your hot water bottle.

📅 The number in the middle tells you the year it was made, and the dots around the circle can help indicate which month and week it was manufactured.

So, if yours has been tucked away in a cupboard for a few winters, it might be worth giving it a check before filling it up again!

⚠️ Remember to check for any signs of wear and tear, cracks, leaks or damage too, and always follow the manufacturer’s safety guidance.

🍂 **10 TOP TIPS FOR VISITING CENTRE PARCS WITH A YOUNG FAMILY!** 🌿

With October half term just around the corner and the colder months coming up, I’ve been reflecting on our most recent trip to Center Parcs UK!

Whether you’re a Centre Parcs newbie or a seasoned pro, you certainly don’t have to get swept up in all the hype to enjoy your own unique and memorable stay.

So, if you’re planning a trip with little ones this half term or over the coming months, here are my **top 10 tips for saving money and making your Centre Parcs break that little bit more enjoyable and less stressful!** 👇

**1️⃣ Look out for the free Ella’s Kitchen pouches!**

If you have a little one who’s weaning, make sure you ask about the free Ella’s Kitchen pouches available at the restaurants and cafés across the Sports Plaza and Country Club. This is a little freebie that not everyone may know about, so it’s definitely worth looking out for! One less thing to worry about when it comes to feeding your little ones and helping to make mealtimes a bit easier.

**2️⃣ Don’t feel you have to hire bikes! 🚲**

Hiring bikes might be part of the classic Centre Parcs experience, but it’s certainly not a must! There’s so much to see and do, and you can explore plenty of the parc on foot without the added expense.

With young children, bikes can sometimes be more hassle than they’re worth, especially when you need to stop regularly and make sure everything is locked up securely. And if you’re not used to cycling, all that riding can leave you feeling a little sore, too! Walking gives you the chance to take things at your own pace and enjoy the surroundings.

**3️⃣ Make the most of the playgrounds and soft play! 🛝**

Many of the restaurants and cafés have playgrounds or soft play areas nearby, including the Pancake House and venues around the Country Club and Sports Plaza.

It’s a great opportunity for the children to burn off some energy while you sit back, relax and enjoy a drink. Sometimes, the simplest things are the best!

**4️⃣ Enjoy the free activities, too! 🌿**

From enjoying the subtropical paradise to feeding the ducks, spending time on the beach and heading out for a sunset walk around the parc, there are plenty of lovely ways to enjoy your stay without spending extra money.

It’s easy to feel like you need to fill every moment with a paid activity, but sometimes slowing down, enjoying the surroundings and letting the children explore is what makes a family break so special.

**5️⃣ Book ahead, but don’t overdo it! 📱**

There are plenty of restaurants to choose from at Centre Parcs, so I’d recommend booking your favourites before you arrive to avoid disappointment.

You can also use the Centre Parcs app to browse and book restaurants and activities in advance. Things like climbing, Go Ape-style activities, immersive games and some of the newer glow-in-the-dark experiences are worth checking out before your stay, as popular sessions can book up.

My advice? Have a look at what’s available and book the things you really want to do, but don’t cram too much into your break. You don’t want to spend the whole time rushing from one activity to the next and missing out on those lovely moments in between!

**6️⃣ Bring some lunch options with you! 🥪**

Eating out can quickly add up when you’re away with the family, so why not bring some lunch options and snacks with you? Whether it’s sandwiches, picnic bits or easy snacks for the children, having a few things ready to go can help keep costs down during your stay.

You can always save eating out for a special meal or two, without feeling like you need to buy every meal while you’re there!

**7️⃣ Remember to pack the essentials! 🧻**

It’s easy to forget the little things when packing for a family break, so make sure you bring along essentials such as tin foil, toiletries, extra washing-up liquid, dishwasher tablets and kitchen roll.

These are the sorts of things you might not think about until you need them, and buying them while you’re away can soon add up! A little preparation before you leave can save you money and a last-minute dash to the shops.

**8️⃣ Don’t worry about packing life jackets for the little ones! 🏊‍♀️**

If you’re visiting with young children, you may not need to bring your own life jackets, as Centre Parcs provides them free of charge in both the main swimming pool and the children’s pool.

One less thing to squeeze into your bags and one less thing to remember when packing for your break! Just check the current pool guidance and remember that flotation aids are never a substitute for close adult supervision.

**9️⃣ Don’t panic if you forget your locker number! 🔑**

If you’re anything like me, remembering your locker number while juggling the children and all your swimming bits can be easier said than done!

The good news is there’s a handy screen you can use to help you locate your locker if you can’t remember which one you’ve been assigned.

And while we’re on the subject of lockers, there’s no need to bring loose change for them either, so that’s one less thing to worry about when packing for your swimming trip!

**🔟 Fancy a quiet night in? Order a takeaway! 🍕**

If you’ve had a busy day exploring, swimming and keeping the little ones entertained, sometimes the last thing you want to do is head out for dinner!

Luckily, there are onsite takeaway options at Centre Parcs, so you can grab something easy and enjoy a relaxed evening in your lodge once the children are ready to wind down.

It’s a lovely option for those evenings when you just want to get cosy, put your feet up and enjoy a bit of downtime!

✨ **My biggest takeaway?** You don’t have to spend a fortune or plan every minute to enjoy Centre Parcs with a young family. A little planning, a few money-saving tips and plenty of time to relax can make all the difference!

Wow, I managed it! 🥰 And I’m so glad I still decided to head to Tunbridge Wells today, even with the weather looking a little questionable! ☔️

Today I took a long-awaited trip to Tunbridge Wells by bus to have a proper look around, find my bearings and see what took my fancy!

First stop was LUSH UK at Royal Victoria Place, where I was greeted by the friendliest staff. Their vast range of bath bombs, bubble bars and other goodies never fails to amaze me! 🛁 Of course, I couldn’t resist picking up a few bits for Christmas stocking fillers! 🎄

Next, I popped into Søstrene Grene, a new addition inside Royal Victoria Place that hasn’t been open long. What a lovely shop, with so much to look at!

After that, I wandered around the shopping centre and along the high street, taking everything in and popping into whichever shops took my fancy. And let’s be honest, who can resist a visit to Primark?! 😂

By this point, I was ready for a little break, so I stopped off at TN1 Bar & Kitchen for brunch. I’d walked past before but had never actually been inside, and the decor was beautiful! There was plenty of choice on the menu, but I went for the American Breakfast and a Chai Latte. ☕️🍳

I then finished my trip with a visit to Jeremy's Home Store, which was like stepping into an Aladdin’s cave! So much to look at and explore.

My final stop was the COOK, another lovely place to have a browse before heading home.

All in all, it was such a lovely trip, and I’m really glad I made the effort to go. It was the perfect chance to explore at my own pace, discover a few new places and enjoy a little time out.

One thing’s for sure, it’s a trip I can definitely see myself doing again soon! 💛

Join Witch and her friends on an interactive woodland adventure, helping Witch find her lost hat, bow and wand while collecting ingredients for her spell. Just keep an eye out for Dragon! 🐉

🍂 FAMILY DAYS OUT WE ENJOYED IN SEPTEMBER 🍂

September was a busy month getting back into the school routine, especially with my youngest starting his school journey! 🎒 But we still managed to squeeze in a few lovely family days out along the way.

🐻 We visited the Pooh Corner museum, a lovely little trip for fans of Winnie the Pooh and a chance to explore the world of one of our favourite childhood characters.

🍄 We explored the beautifully illustrated Gruffalo trail at Knole - National Trust and went inside the house for the first time, making a day of discovering both the grounds and the history of the house.

🚶‍♀️ We also enjoyed a family walk up to Shoreham Cross, taking in the views before heading back down to visit the nostalgic Flying Teapot tearooms for a well-deserved treat! ☕🍰 With a lovely playground for the children just opposite, it was the perfect way to finish off our visit, letting them burn off some energy while we enjoyed the surroundings.

Three lovely days out, each offering something a little different, and all giving us the chance to make some special family memories.
