Something special 💕

To be asked to make cakes for your most special occasions makes my work so enjoyable and when it’s a combination like this I love it even more! This was for a christening celebration but could easily be tweaked for a birthday or baby shower? A few ideas between myself and my customer and this was the result, just perfect!

When a large amount of cake is needed and a specific cake style is wanted, going large on the cake can often spoil the look especially on something sonoretty as this so I often advise adding cupcakes which makes a lovely display alongside the main cake. There’s also the option to have 2 tiers or even just have an undecorated cutting cake in the background ready for your guests. Lots of options for those larger parties.

I think I’m in love!

I’ve been waiting to find some spare time & the right flowers to make the ever popular long cake & hallelujah! After yesterdays visit to cressingflowers I knew these were just perfect for what I had in mind. It needed to be rustic, textured, romantic & a bright pop of colour and I’ve ticked off all of those I think! Inside there are 4 layers of light strawberry sponge with alternate fillings of freeze dried strawberry buttercream & strawberry jam & vanillabean buttercream with sliced peaches, then coated with a rustic styled swiss meringue buttercream.

The flowers were individually wrapped & using food safe pics applied to the cake to avoid any contamination.

This style of cake has proved very popular this year especially for weddings when you can go all out & make the cake as big as as you need to serve your guests, so if you’re having a big wedding, go longer!!

It’s one that is definitely going on my wedding menu for 2027 and can’t wait to see how they look with all of the spring and summer blooms next year.

This is the kind of wedding cake I love to create, it’s classical, graceful and the subtle textured detailing just adds that little something.

Setting up my cakes at wedding venues always makes me feel quite emotional, I’m a bit of a softy for a wedding & being there in the background quietly putting together my contribution to your special day whilst others are bustling around me doing their part is a lovely feeling, and the most special thing is creating that moment when a couple sees their cake and thinks, “This is exactly what we wanted”. I would love to be a fly on the wall & catch that moment, there would definitely be tears 😂!

Sunday 11th October is the date to pop in your diary if you’re getting married next year and looking for that perfect place. Essex based Prested Hall Wedding & Events Venue are holding an open day to showcase their beautiful venue and I will be there as a wedding cake supplier on the day. So come along and talk cake with me, enjoy a little tasting and who knows, you may just have found your perfect wedding venue & cakemaker in one day!!

Want to place an order at Butterfly Bakery?

1: Tap one of the links above where you can visit my website/online storefront. There you can use the enquiry form to give me your details and cake requests.

2: Once I have your details I will contact you if I need anything further to help me design your cake then you will receive your quote.

3: Once your’re happy with your quote then a non refundable booking fee of £50 for whole cakes will be required. Please note that until I receive this your cake booking is NOT confirmed. The remainder will then be due by the date given.

4: Collection details will be arranged a few days before your cake is due.

A special cake request for a joint husband & wife’s 60th birthday party at the weekend.
This was 4 layers of light vanilla sponge with a delicious strawberry jam & vanilla buttercream filling decorated with textured buttercream & finished with vanilla macarons.
Followed by a lovely message from my customer ‘that cake was absolutely delicious!’
A cake shouldn’t just look great it has to taste amazing as well 💕
