A bit about little known Camelina Seeds

Camelina, also known as Gold of Pleasure, has been grown in England for thousands of years for its tasty seeds and oil.

I'm using them in my seed blend for the House Seeded loaf just now but I also have them in stock in the pantry section for you...

Toast and sprinkle on salads, use in baking, add to smoothies, or use as a vegan egg replacement.

Camelina Seeds are high in protein, a good source of Omega 3 oils and rich in antioxidants such as vitamin E

Our current batch was grown by Peter & Andrew Fairs in Essex and Andy Howard in Kent.

Townies, grab some when you're in. Locals message me, latest Wednesdays, to pop any pantry item in your order.

TRACEABLE BUTTERMILK from our ethical cultured butter producer.

Good evening lovely people!

That’s this side of the shift done. Loaves tucked up for their final fermentation until the wee small hours.

Edinburgh Butter Co are now selling buttermilk. I’ve bought a fair amount with some in bulk and some for retail.

Please DM if you’d like to reserve one.

So rare to access traceable buttermilk so grab some while you can. Softens scones and soda bread among other things!

Nick and Chloe and team are lovely people who take care of all our butter needs - cultured no less. Practices in Industrial dairy are often cruel, unethical, and end up as the milk on our supermarket shelves - full of unnecessary antibiotics and hormones. No, thank you.

At Loaf, we like to know where our dairy comes from, how the animals - and staff who cared for them - were treated. We know the hard working owners, Nick and Chloe personally - and that’s the way we like it!

I’ll pop some in the fridge tomorrow but could do with shifting a fair amount so thought I’d post here for pre-orders. Fridge and freezer space are prime real estate over here!

See 10h in to the bake shift you tomorrow!!

Organic* fruit and veg wanted!

At last! An Artichoke! Long time coming (4 years!) and taking up half the polytunnel but it came good and isn't she beautiful?

On that note, I'm always on the look out for organic fruit and veg....a supplier, or just homegrown goodness, I'll beg, buy or barter. I’m interested in handfuls or gluts - no trade too small.

I can't travel all the way round the counties on a weekly basis as my other commitments don't allow me to so I need you to bring it to me!

As we all know, I'm fighting against a broken food system and promote 'living' prices, so I will pay you a 'living' price for your toil.

Please share with any clean, keen veg growers in your life!

Have a great week! 🌷

And we have arrived.

All directly traded British grown seeds from the legends at Hodmedod.

It feels like I’ve been saying this for a while - I have a hit list. Like children, the culprits often run circles round me, but rest assured, the goal is to nail them, one by one.

Once upon a time, organic was the benchmark, and my previous seeded featured organic seeds, but now we’re into the nitty-gritty: where did it come from? Who profits? What did they do to it? What will it do to me?

Anyway, all this to say I am very happy to provide you with a 100% non-commodity directly traded British grown house blended seeded loaf! Phwoar!

The usual legends behind the scenes providing us with the ingredients.

Our studiente extraordinaire has flown the nest so it’s the first solo baking marathon this weekend.

Was a bit nervous I have to say but so far so good! I think having to create job sheets has kept me more in line than usual and we’re cooking with gas!

So good to have Barony Mill bere to mill again. A slight interruption in supply chain in recent months, but as before it features in all the doughs today. Local grain economies matter now more than ever.

2/3 into this side of the bake. Starting to fade. Here’s to second winds!
