Have any of you heard of a Lolly Gobble Choc Bomb? Mr Welsh Bakes has told me it existed 😂

It was a very popular, retro strawberry and chocolate ice lolly released by Lyons Maid in the UK during the 1970s. It had a sugar-coated chocolate balls and a hidden chocolate bar inside.

I was born in 1970 and don’t recall it, here’s a photo I found a photo on Google.

We’ll have our delicious Blackberry Welsh Cakes on the stall at Higham Ferrers Farmers’ Market this Saturday! 😍

Packed with juicy blackberries and freshly baked with lots of love (and a little Welsh magic 🏴), these beauties are the perfect mix of traditional Welsh cake goodness with a fruity twist.

Be quick though… once they’re gone, they’re gone — and we have a feeling these might disappear faster than a Welsh person hearing the words “free cake” 👀😂

I was sorting out my garage yesterday and I found the top my Mam was wearing on the last visit to St Fagan’s in Wales a few weeks before she sadly passed away at 64. While we were at St Fagan’s we watched a cookery demonstration on how to make Welsh Cakes and my Mam commented that hers were better ha ha 🤣

This is one of our last photos together. I tried it on and it fits me so I’ll be wearing it this summer 😊 I dreamt of her last night, possibly because I had found the top, and she was wearing it in my dream 👼 ❤️

What I wouldn’t give for one more Cwtch 💓

We’ve stood at markets through the depths of winter… frozen fingers, numb toes, setting up in temperatures where even the Welsh cakes looked concerned ❄️😂

So it feels slightly ironic that it’s the UK heatwave that has finally defeated us!

Sadly, we’ve had to cancel our event today as the temperatures are simply too hot for our bakes to travel and sit safely. As much as we love seeing you all, melted Welsh cakes and overheated bakers are not part of the Welsh Bakes experience ☀️🥵

We also need to make the difficult decision to pause posting Welsh cakes this week. With the forecast looking so hot, we just can’t guarantee they’ll arrive safely or in the condition we’d be happy to send them. Nobody wants a squashed, sweaty parcel of Welsh cakes arriving at the door!

We hate disappointing people, but quality and food safety always come first. We’ll be back as soon as the weather behaves itself (a very British sentence to write 🇬🇧).

Thank you for understanding and for supporting our little Welsh baking adventure.

🚨 Public Service Announcement 🚨

Our Welsh Cakes have once again disappeared at an alarming rate… 👀

We suspect the following:
❌ “I’ll just have one” syndrome
❌ Accidental tea-time overindulgence
❌ Family members mysteriously “trying one” and leaving none behind

Freshly baked, dangerously moreish, and absolutely no self-control included 😆

Who’s guilty of saying “I’ll save some for later”… and then somehow eating them all in one sitting? 🙋‍♀️🥮
