Well after 6 years of attending cake international I finally plucked up the courage to enter one of the biggest cake competitions. I wanted to celebrate our wee doggie Dixie, here is my entry. Unfortunately I didn’t get placed but I’m really pleased with the judges comments which I will learn from for next year. When I placed Dixie’s cake on the table it was perfect but a crack appeared just before judging started (i think the temperature change didn’t help) I really enjoyed the experience.

Here we have a Beatles and Oasis drum cake xx inside are 4 layers of chocolate sponge filled with kinder chocolate buttercream and kinder bueno chocolates coated in dark chocolate butter ganache and decorated with fondant xx

Here we have a 10”x6” strawberry sponge filled with strawberry jam and vanilla buttercream coated with dark chocolate butter ganache and fondant. The top dome is Rice Krispie treats coated in dark chocolate ganache and fondant. Middle tier is a dummy to complete the look.

Thoroughly enjoyed making this for my dad’s eightieth birthday xx actually pours whiskey xx vanilla sponge with vanilla buttercream coated with milk and dark chocolate ganache then covered in Belgium white modelling chocolate xx

Inside this little beauty is 4 layers of vanilla sponge filled with strawberry jam and vanilla buttercream coated with white chocolate butter ganache and white chocolate ganache drip, decorated with fondant flowers,buttercream and fondant butterflies ###
