When the cake is just as beautiful before and after flowers.

When the cake really does take centre stage, where better to put it than in the middle of the dance floor!
There was nowhere to hide with this one, the edges needed to be super sharp and the finish had to be perfectly smooth. It was tall, it was elegant, it was certainly a centrepiece.

You might have noticed a slight/significant radio silence of late. I'm very much still around but have been tackling a few health problems over the last few months, completely minor ones in the scheme of things I have to add.
In fact, after receiving a diagnosis last week, I can now start moving forwards and will hopefully get back to normal soon.
My diagnosis is not a secret and is in fact rather ironic given what I do, I have coeliac disease.
This means I now have to follow a strict gluten free lifestyle. The good news is that this will essentially "fix" me, which is excellent.
The bad news is that cakes, biscuits and many foods I've enjoyed over the years are now out of bounds, but I will find replacements and a new way of life. Thankfully, I'm very familiar with coeliac disease, with some close family being lifelong members of the club, so I have lots of advice and support to hand.
What does this mean for Ollianna Cakes? Absolutely nothing, I will be continuing as I always have done and have some keen taste testers ready to take over that important part of the role. The bonus might be trying out some gluten free alternatives that you might all benefit from.
I just want to assure you that I am still here and I am still busy with cakes and hope to be for a long time to come.

I'll get round to sharing some of the cakes I managed to get done over the summer. The one pictured was a lovely semi naked three tier I delivered to the Mill Barns recently.

I love going to new venues, even more so when the bride to be pins the specific location to make sure Google maps takes me right to the door!
This three tier buttercream covered cake with artificial flower decoration was delivered to the lovely in Staffordshire last week, presented on one of my milk glass cake stands.

I'm a little behind with sharing wedding cakes.
This three tier cake was one I delivered to recently.
The hidden dummy tier left a gap that I filled with gorgeous fresh flowers from
And the sage green sugarpaste petals matched the room decor beautifully.
I'm just loving all things green at the moment.

Another new venue for me last week delivering this lovely two tier wedding cake to in Shrewsbury.
A gorgeous rabbit warren of a venue, perfect for this elegant cake. The couple also hired one of my milk glass cake stands which shows the cake off perfectly.

Despite making and delivering wedding cakes for seven years now, there's still lots of venues I haven't actually been to yet.
I did recently tick another off the list. What a lovely setting is in.
I love the effect of the royal icing drip and mini donuts on this three tier semi naked cake. What's not to love, cake AND donuts!

I'm letting myself down with my ability to regularly post something for you all, so much so that this wedding cake was one I delivered weeks ago to
I added artificial flowers to this semi naked cake when I arrived at the venue, and I hope you'll agree that it looked stunning.

Every year this young man gives me a very random brief for his cake design. This year was a dinosaur on parallel bars!
He was really happy with the outcome, and now we have an 11 year old in the house, where are the years going.

Can you believe it's February tomorrow! January is normally such a slow month but it has flown by here there's been so much going on.
There's lots of new wedding cake enquiries too which is great, and I'm doing my best to keep up with them all.
And though I know I say it all the time, it's never to early to secure your wedding date, so once you've got your wedding venue booked it's time to get the photographer, florist, cake designer and all your other must have suppliers sorted.
I can't wait for wedding season 2023 to really kick in.
