Gritting! Please read and support to help minimise disruption to our children's education.
Every winter, our school faces repeated closures because the access road becomes unsafe during snow and ice. The school sits at around 226m elevation, making it one of the highest in Somerset—but unlike other high level schools, it’s not on the gritted road network. When icy weather hits, the single track access road with no pavements becomes too dangerous for cars, buses, staff, parents and children to use safely.
Closures happen several times a year, disrupting children’s education and putting real pressure on families who suddenly have to juggle childcare and work.
We’re asking Somerset Council to add the short 2km access road to the winter gritting network—and we need your support.

A safer winter route means reduced impact to education & parent’s work, fewer dangerous journeys, and a stronger, more resilient community.
