Not the sort of thing you're supposed to admit in September but here we are.

I do love summer with its bright blue skies, but autumn colours are my colours - the warm browns and oranges and deep reds. And fairy lights in jars twinkling as day turns to night that little bit earlier. And the fact that butter cream and ganache behave as they’re meant to. This is my Roman Empire.

SATURDAY SUMMARY
What's been happening at Louise Cannon Cakes this week?

After a chilled weekend and taking a couple of new 2027 wedding bookings there was lots to do.

Jet needed a bit more TLC getting new rear springs fitted - can't have poorly suspension spoiling a cake delivery.

The photoshoot wedding cake is coming together. It's going to be a bright and busy design with sugar flowers not quite in my usual style. 

Thursday took me to a fabulous venue for a wedding fayre... Brunel's SS Great Britain! We've visited over the years as tourists so it was amazing to meet couples there to talk about their wedding plans, all set-up in the room they'd have their wedding breakfast. As usual it was a close tie between lemon or white velvet with raspberry being the most popular flavours. 

And this weekend I need to do a bit of real gardening. I've ignored the weeds all summer and happily watched bees and butterflies enjoying their flowers but now the rain has hopefully softened the ground a little I need to tidy up a bit... but it's raining again right now so maybe another coffee first ☕️😂

2027 dates are quietly being booked and I have wedding fairs throughout September and October. So if you wait until November to reach out there’s a good chance your date have gone.

It stays fresher for longer - remember the last time you left a slice of cake on a plate for a couple of hours? Ok me neither. But fondant covered cakes (which is what you'll want for the sleek, modern wedding cake look) lock in the moisture until it’s cut and served.

And by choosing sugar florals which are handmade from icing and completely food-safe you won’t need to worry about accidentally adding something toxic to the cake.
