I'm breaking all the social media rules today and posting twice!

This week is Carers Week and as some of you may know, I previously worked at the charity North Staffs Carers - they do an amazing job bridging the gaps between all different services and providing support to unpaid adult and young carers. That's anyone who cares for a friend, family member, neighbour etc not as a paid occupation. Carers frequently fly under the radar for their needs and end up tired, burnt out and frustrated and NSC do a wonderful job supporting people navigate their feelings and their caring journey.

I've got boxes of 4 of these special salted caramels boxed up, they're Β£8 a box and Β£5 of every box will go to NSC - there's not many so it might not be the biggest donation but every little helps and any extra donations are always welcome and as always, sending lots of love to anyone tirelessly giving up so much to care for someone else πŸ’š

I've got a couple of newbies again this week!

- Caramel & Pistachio. My version of M&S big daddy bites (I hope that's their real name πŸ˜‚)

- Hazelnut cake truffles (all made using homemade hazelnut butter and Praline, no palm oil or fillers!)

- Masala Chai Truffle again but this time dipped in gold cinnamon chocolate

- Cherry & Amaretti Biscuits - think Bakewell!

Anna & Martin 🧑

Thanks for trusting me to make your cake and for being so chilled about the whole thing, an absolute dream team. Bottom layer was almond sponge with almond buttercream and homemade cherry jam layer and top was hazelnut sponge sandwiched with hazelnut buttercream and hazelnut spread.

Also thankyou for inviting us to celebrate with you, it was an incredible evening, you were completely surrounded by laughter and love, just how it should be!

As some of you have seen on my stories, I've had an absolute nightmare this week. Last week we were faced with mega hot weather which ruined a lot of my stock meaning I needed to remake EVERYTHING to reopen the shop (no mean feat in itself). Then starting this week it was still warm in the kitchen paired with a lot of rain making a really humid environment...not ideal for chocolate making!

Through this, and admittedly some of my own bad judgement due to feeling really crap and on the verge of giving up, I carried on with my white chocolate shells thinking they'd be ok despite knowing they weren't that well tempered....that was a bad decision! It's resulted in a lot of ruined chocolates that I've already filled and capped. I've made the decision to close today (Thursday 4th June) to try and get on top and catch up!

Sorry for any inconvenience, I'll be back open tomorrow (hopefully with a full cabinet) and probably a lot of reject chocolates!

Thanks for all your support, I know I can be a whingey sometimes and seem like I'm moaning, I'm not I promise, but think it's important people see the hard side of this too cause let me tell ya, it's bloody hard work πŸ˜… but we'll get there!

What a week for bakers and chocolatiers. Too hot to work with chocolate, absolutely melting if you've got the oven on!

I made these earlier this week, waited til 10pm at night when it was cooler but bloody hell, I forgot I make a banging brownie! I think these will have to be made for the shop at some point but this week is going to be a busy one restocking ALL the flavours as I lost so many due to the heat!

My flavour cards have nearly run out which means I need to order more! (If I put it out to the ether hopefully I will remember πŸ˜‚)

So that brings me to my question that I put to you, the customers. Do I keep my current core range or 12 flavours and just make newbies when I feel like it or should I switch up the core 12 for a bit of a change?

Let me know what you think!

A little announcement!
Firstly, I now have boxes of 4 - the perfect little gift for under a tenner if you just want a little bit of something sweet!

Secondly - and this might be a weird one for some people, I'm reducing my prices. Correct, this is not me increasing prices and I know people will be like huhhhhh. Basically, when I opened the shop I had two weeks from quitting my full time job to opening. That included making everything, pricing, buying everything, setting it all up and it was a complete whirlwind! Chocolate has also in that time, decreased ever so slightly and after reviewing and endlessly, tirelessly pricing everything up (let me tell you, that's a LOT of maths for someone who left school nearly 20 years ago!) I decided I wanted to put my prices somewhere I feel more comfortable with. It's not a huge drop and the buttons haven't changed. Thankyou so much for everything so far, now come buy all the chocolate πŸ˜…πŸ§‘

New flavour this week. VERY limited amount of these, it turns out the recipe o have written down makes a really teeny batch and I didn't multiply it haha.

There's a million road closures and traffic lights in and around leek so I'm expecting this week to be quiet (especially if this morning is anything to go by) so if you'd like anything to collect from me in Stoke, please message me!

Now, as for next week, we've all seen the forecast 🌞 this means I will have to totally play it by ear as I have no idea if I'll have chocolate left, if I'll be able to produce anything or even what the temperature in the shop for storage will be like so I may yet have to close but I will try and keep everyone as informed and updated as possible!

Last weekend I took the cake decorating equipment out of retirement to make this cake for an old school friends Dads birthday! Got a few more cakes lined up in the next couple of months whilst it might be more difficult to make lots of chocolate and I'm looking forward to it

Shout out to my mum and dad who let me use their oven to bake because one of the previous owners of our house propped the oven in our house on a pile of tiles which are now breaking leaving our oven leaning like the leaning oven of Penkhull resulting in very wonky cakes πŸ™ƒ should probably get that fixed πŸ˜‚
