Although, as our name suggests, we are quintessential by nature, we are always keen to challenge ourselves with new ideas and recipes, focusing on taste and enjoyment. So, some of our friends of the page may have noticed a lack of output from GCB Towers this year.
Well, it's fair to say that both myself and Mrs GCB have been through the wringer over the past six months or so, health-wise.
The great news is that we're both coming out the other side relatively fit and well.
The sad news is that it's time to alter our priorities, going forward.
You'll know that we both have full time jobs, and that this all started as a lockdown hobby, and became a success.
But unfortunately we now need to dedicate all our free time to doing things for ourselves, along with a bit more rest and recuperation.
So it's time to close the doors of GCB Towers.
For now, at least.
Lastly, thanks to all of our fantastic customers who kept coming back for more. ❤️

The youngest granddaughter's birthday - another free cake !!

Her request - a Smarties cake.

Chocolate sponges, vanilla buttercream, a few Smarties for decoration...
And about a quarter of a tonne of Smarties hidden inside. 😋😍

Last ones of the weekend.
Our great friends had a baby a few days ago ❤️
But health complications meant mum hasn't been allowed cakes for a while. But soon after the birth she had the all clear and DEMANDED delivery of her favourite triple chocolate muffins.😂
Well, we love these people so we didn't need asking twice.
And we couldn't leave out baby's big brother, or Dad, so here's some of our Bakewell cupcakes for them. 😋

The first photo is the three-sponge Victoria, coated in vanilla buttercream, collected by our lovely customers.
The second photo is after they decorated the cake for their son's 2nd birthday.
Looks fabulous.

Another "freebie for the grandkids", this time starring the one and only grandson, 11 tomorrow.

Him - Can I have a chocolate cheesecake please?
Me - No problem.
Him - Can I have some chocolate on top?
Me - Yeah, what chocolate do you want? Buttons?
Him - Yes, and Maltesers.
Me - OK.
Him - ... And crunchie?
Everyone - NO CRUNCHIE !!!
Me and Him - YES CRUNCHIE !!
Him - ... And Twirl.
Him - ... And Wispa.

This week's bakes.

So, local company, and all-round tremendous estate agent Samuel Makepeace Bespoke Estate Agents are celebrating their 10th anniversary today.
Well they couldn't very well have a party without a cake, could they?

So we have a massive three layer Victoria sponge, with three and a half kilos of buttercream. 😮

And as an accompaniment, there's some quiches and some individual cheesecake pots too.😋
